This game started out very slow and I was very skeptical as I couldn't get into the previous game. But I stuck with it and really enjoyed it.
It's a very well made game, lovely graphics if starting to look a bit dated, solid voice acting, GREAT writing, a compelling story, and lots of little things to do after you finish the main quest.
I enjoyed the RPG elements, which probably is what got me to stick with it for more than a few hours. It's not terribly deep, but certainly better than nothing.
Gameplay was good. It's somewhat addictive and makes other games where you can't free climb walls and buildings seem dull. Controls were iffy and caused me to miss jumps and die or latch onto things in error. Combat is hit or miss and frankly it's way too easy after a while.
Really looking forward to playing the sequels and going deeper into the story.
Assassin's Creed II was definitely a step in the right direction for the series.
First, the story is much more enjoyable, and the missions' linked to the plot are much more varied. The gameplay is basically the same, with a few slight changes to combat and free-running. The introduction of currency, allowing you to purchase weapons, accessories, ammunitions and armors or hire people for help, is a good addition. There's also much more to do outside of the story. In other words, the open world style is much more present here than in the first game.
If you thought the first game was pretty cool, but only the incredible repetitiveness kept you away, AC 2 is well worth the try. The graphics are great, but character models do not look as good as in the first game. Everything else is a big improvement.
Awesome game, but gets redundant very quickly. Most of the missions are rinse and repeat, much like the first game. And the extra incentives to hunt down feathers or what not is still really not that enticing. Great storyline tho.
i thought this game was horrible.. they story didnt make sense at all, and the graphics were so cheezy that you can see every glitch in the game.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME, it wasted my time and points
The only flaw with Assassin's Creed II is the dull present-day storyline featuring Desmond Miles. It completely kills the pace of the game and, frankly, I don't really care about Desmond or the modern Assassins. Still, I can't recommend this game highly enough.
