I was really pleasantly surprised by Mirror's Edge. The fast gameplay and challenging parkour sequences makes this game a worthwhile escape from the dredges of boring FPSs and sports titles. If you ever wanted to see through the eyes of Ezio in Assassin's Creed this is the game for you. Excited for a sequel because the only thing this game lacked was a longer story and a little polish.
if you like turds wrapped in plastic then this game is for you. the only good thing i see about the game is the semi-hot chick on the cover that you cant even see because this piece of poo is in first person only.
Mirror's Edge is a first-person platformer, that involves minimal, under average combat mechanics.
I loved the graphic design and soundtrack that was perfectly mixed together to create a true "runner's" atmosphere. The story mode isn't too long, and the plot itself isn't great, but the way you progress into the story is fun.
There is also speed runs for the chapters in the story mode and time trials. For some, this is where the game shines the most. Search on youtube : Mirror's Edge speed runs. After repeating each level with practice, it's very satisfying to discover short cuts, perfect moves and keep your momentum high all the time. Overall, Mirror's Edge has its flaws in gameplay, but the sense of speed and urgency is fun stylish, with the well-suited presentation.
This game has it's flaws, the controls are very finicky resulting in numerous pitfall deaths which can lead to frustration, however, if you stick with it and take the time to learn each level you will find that this game is a very unique, thrilling and rewarding experience.
The story mode is very short and the plot itself is pretty bland, but the game really shines when you are skilled enough to zoom through each section gracefully and after the story mode is completed there are several time trials to unlock. The time trials have you racing through the same sections as the story mode but force you to find new paths which shakes things up just enough to make them interesting and challenging.
Overall, I think this is a great game with plenty of content but I think its high learning curve and level of frustration makes it difficult to recommend to others. So if you tend to give up easy, think twice about picking this one up.
Good game the gameplay is good a little repeative tho but still fun the graphics are amazing and the voice acting is even better than the graphics but if you your looking for a good FPS you should give this one a try!
If you're looking for a griping story, you won't find it in this game. A different take on the First Person genre? Come right in and experience Mirror's Edge.
The game has a great minimal style that compliments the games more narrow palette of colors. The audio gets the job done, although I'm not a fan of Lisa Miskovsky vocals on Still Alive ,which in my opinion works better as an instrumental track. Gameplay, works relatively smooth although there are are times when it can feel clunky.
Even though the game is a bit flawed in its execution, give the game a try on concept alone.
A First Person/Parkour experience to be like nothing you ever played before. Unlike the guy below me I actually liked the indoor parts of the game better. It has puzzle game elements aswell, which surprised me. The story was short (around 5 hours), and there will be frustrating parts that will leave your head scratching, but in the end I think the payoff was good.
The replay value of the game comes in the online portion, where one races in different maps to beat the time given. The interesting part is once you beat the time you leave a ghost, what this means is that you can race against your psn/xbox friend's ghost and try to beat there time!, You can also vs the ghost of the Top 100 'Runners' in the world!
Overall I would definitely get the sequel if it ever came out.
For all of it's flaws, the game is certainly imaginative. It's got beautiful art design, a fantastic soundtrack, and a unique gameplay concept. The gameplay concept's execution is highly flawed though, and sometimes the game can be infuriating. It's a very trial and error game but once you're flowing its a tremendous experience. My biggest gripe is that easily the best parts from this game are the outdoor experiences, yet it sticks you in buildings, sewers, and construction sites for a majority of the game.
