My Bio

Don't usually reveal too much in a site bio and prefer leaving them blank, or tongue in cheak most times really, but starting to think might be good idea for me at Goozex to put extra effort and info in mine since so many experienced members are leary of newbies (aka "noobs" here - and not termed affectionately by some at times apparently) and since some of those sort thread comments got to me enough for me to reply in thread in a tone that might put some off trying communicate with me? I am one that does not reserve my commentary to only the bouquets if feel strongly enough about something? I feel strongly that noobs should be welcomed and given benefit of doubt before deeming them likely most untrustworthy and would appreciate some aknowledgement that it is possible a naughty noob could be a wily experienced member in disguise of multiple identity and registration and not just some insincere looky-loo or other sort less than "serious" or trustworthy undesirable? In fact, there could be all manner reasons folks might sign up and not stick around or otherwise meet expectations and most have nothing to do with being dishonest or otherwise lacking. Feel strongly too I am a person that can be trusted, and have been successfully, even with matters of more importance than game trading of cast offs and no longer played old favorites. Have been trusted with access to group member point accounts recently when requested to become a group leader for a points promo a deals site maximized benefit of that a well known drug chain had on and I didn't abuse that trust. Have been trusted (quite successfully) caring for other people's children, even disabled ones and was even an aide for a time. Been trusted with my own keys to where I've worked and with the codes for the alarm systems and all manner of things, including loans and mortgages. Can definitely be trusted to trade some games. Tend to lay low at first when new at a site, but like I said, some remarks really got to me and even first made the idea of joining look like it probably wouldn't be very worthwhile or could take waaaaay too long to be? Since I haven't sent out a trade yet there's nothing much here then to assess my character by. Not sure I want to be judged by a couple replies I've made in thread here, which were made because, well basically, I was a tad mad? Noobs are taking leaps of faith too and also same risk as the experienced traders that won't trade with us who seem to overlook that some noobs could be experienced members in disguise. OMG - what is a "serious" gamer anyway - besides a oximoron in some cases really? Sometimes I forget stuff like I shouldn't grocery shop when I am hungry and shouldn't write copy when freshly mad and should at least sleep on it first. I'll probably pull this bio eventually and go back to my usual short and less revealing variety bio once I've trades enough to quell those more Nervous Nellies?

If sharing additional personal and other data doesn't suffice, can always check out my rep at Smart Canucks (freebie and deals shopping web community+++) since I go by the same handle there as I do here and they too use a rep system both in trade and another for posts in forums? Not trying to recruit anybody but should you decide to join that site after checking me, and it out, and should you chose to use my referal ID to do (which would always be apperciated, of course) you'll find I only included that with signature when I start a new thread there. That is if you care to look? It's a choice of mine rather than include it in my siggie on every post I do (even tho' allowed to) and even though we get fifty cents per recruit that signs up using our individual ID link. Figure the peron whose thread it is deserves the recruit if folks finally decide to sign up because of reading that thread. It's free to join but you can lurk in some areas without becoming a member. Smart Canucks has two kinds of rep ratings, one is for trading. You can see my rating when lurking in threads but may need to sign up to read my trade profile history and comments. Maybe this will help to get a clearer picture of sort of trader I am, by the comments left with my trade rep received which has ALL been positive. Clicking on my Statistics tab on my personal page at Smart Canucks will let you chose next to view all threads I've started or you can view just all my posts which will show you I indeed can write a short reply quite frequently. If just lurking you'll have to find me and my stats in threads. Click, if lurkers can, on the number assigned me for trade rep and those stats will appear? Well they do for members, not sure otherwise, but it is free to join and one way Goozex folk can try check out some of the new members here if they chose to?

If you dislike wordy people then I will not please you in some ways, least of all that one? C'est la vie? Of course, nobody is forcing you to read what I write...

Canadian born and raised, presently residing in Manitoba. At these temps of -35 C while scribing this, wondering why tho?

Age: is just a number which means it's high enough I'd like to forget it but low enough I still look pretty good and you'd probably never guess my age correctly just by looking at me? All of which doesn't really matter anywho 'cause I'm married. Classy folks have even asked whether hubby is my dad or my husband? Hm, I thought I suffered hoof in mouth discease?  He and I have been together since I was 17 but we didn't marry for many years. My dad died young and then we wanted to hurry and get hitched so not to risk same with my mom and grandmas. Well, that was partly why I said yes, but also because I love the guy.

Sorta funny story about honesty for ya. How honest is this noob? Well, when dh and I were living together and he came home from getting his taxes done one year, the issue of honesty near broke us up. "Duh" guy hands me his professionally completed forms and I freaked out of sorts. He lied and said he was single. A habit of his when asked if married because he liked to say technically he isn't, he's living common law. He tried to tell me his accountant insisted he should say he was still single and why that was okay and of benefit but I'd had enough. I listened only to some of his lame male claptrap and then tossed his tax stuff in the air with a flick of my wrist and told him, "you wanna be single (expurlative), then you got it mister" and I was going to storm out and really meant every word too but doesn't he go and not only promise to correct his tax doxuments and never to be talked into such again but he proposed to me too. Not very great at proposals really, yet even still, so earth shattering I wanted to put to pigs flying on the cover of the wedding invites - for real, but like with so much with my wedding, let folks talk me out of it. I was steaming and he almost didn't get a yes. Course the way he chose his words, wasn't sure if he wanted to get married or have one last tumble so-long first before we broke up? Man of few words, he says, "let's do it"...?! There was a huge pregnant pause. Initially, my response was, "what...?" We talked and decided to keep our probably pending nuptials a secret for a couple months. That way my gun shy ladies man could back out if he got cold feet and so could I if chosing not to risk marriage with such? Allowing cancellation without too much extra fallout and embarrassment then we reasoned. Really, we didn't want either of us later throwing at the other in our later years that anybody had forced the other's hand or bent their rubber and way too marriage shakey arm unfairly. Big chickens. To be fair, we were deciding whom we should try to trust to keep promise of forever with. Turned out well in the end. We married and are still together which we wouldn't be if it had turned out he (and I in reverse as well) wasn't a "good egg" and honest sort.

Don't suffer age or much any prejudice, make friends of all ages and sorts. Am horrible guesstimating that kind of thing, so works out I don't care. My husband is a bit older than I am. No I haven't a daddy complex and he's not that much older than I am, but people sometimes act like he is. He looked young and I looked older when we met (other way around now) and  it never occurred to us to ask one another stuff like age and the like.  Funnier story about when he learned I was only 17 but some other time maybe?

No kids. My babies are my hubby, our Chow-Chow, my kitty cat and my El Camino. Had a bad habit of taking in stray animals and people, but finances and fortunes made me have to stop that practise. Self preservation too, since the latter variety tended to thank me when they left by ripping us off. Probably will take in another 5 and half foot iguana once more before I do person(s) again? Who am I kidding? Couldn't turn away a friend in need that had nowhere to go. Sure is the pits some people cannot always resist temptation though? It taught me that people are creatures of human nature and often creatures of habit too. I used to make friends with folks of all sort reputation and "caste" - so to speak, believed it didn't matter. If they behaved with me, who was I to hold against them how they treated others but that I had never seen evidence of? Be nice to me and I am nice to you kind of thing. Now I think otherwise for the most part. If it is in somebody's nature to steal from others (for example) then they'll likely eventually get around to you too, if they can, or something transpires and allows them to rationalize their naughtiness by feeling justified for some reason to take what's not theirs, has been my experience?

It's in my nature to to talk a lot sometimes but I also listen better than many do quite often and can sit in silence for long periods to try get a shot with my camera of a bird or other wild beastie. Kids and animals tend to really like me in person. Horses seem to be able to tell how much I love them and have often trusted me quickly, much to some owner's surprise sometimes. Some people love me and others love to hate me. I am not easy to get know well or truly understand and I'm told that takes time. Many think they get me right off without ever having even so much as a real conversation with me. Moody artist type. Certified professional graphic artist and ameteur other assorted creative endeavours. Was a layout and paste-up artist, as well typesetter for many years who was spoiled with much creative control. Have a colourful way of expressing myself (I am told) and my humour is not always appreciated or understood. Not even trying to change or become more like everybody else especially if that means having to say just what I think people want to hear. Always trying to learn and grow though which can bring change but a different sort more palletible. Lots of people try tell me I hafta change and even more say I never should. Oh well, different strokes...? One persons "quick wit" is another's "sarcastic **tch" - whatcha going to do, can't please everybody, and I don't even try nor want to. Suck at lying and avoid it because I can't keep them straight. It's too much work to lie and it eats at me. Can't remember what was said exactly to whom. Mostly though, I don't like to lie and that's that. Better to stick to what I'm good at? Not the person to ask for an opinion if only looking for a certain one because generally will tell you what I really think or avoid sharing opinion all together. Just because I say what I think, it doesn't mean that I've always something to say you wouldn't want to hear? Babble when I am uncomfortable or nervous sometimes and folks like that shouldn't fudge because you usually give yourself away anyhow.

Favorite Game Genres: RPG types, Horizontal Action stuff like Mario and Sonic kind of things. Enjoy playing other games too though, like some Board Games, Puzzles, Cards - including Poker but not a gambler for real money - yet anyway, Pinball, Sports - certain ones...  gee, may be easier to say what I don't like very much? Not fond of games that are all fighting like wrestling and Mortal Combat-ish stuff. Shooting games can get old fast for me unless it's a very exceptional one. Do like some war games if includes strategy and not just shooting and the game play is good. Greatly dislike games that have graphics that are really dark and hard to see what's what no matter how popularly cherished.  Not fond of games that glorify illegal acts like Grand Theft Auto nor dubious lifestyle choices like gangsta or pimp.. therein my humour is lacking. Don't care if others like what I do not, makes no never mind to me, it's their perogative. Don't mind less than realistic graphics especially if the unused memory is put into developing an interesting and really fun game instead? Like to make art on my computer that I also play games on and not really crazy about using up tonnes of memory to try a flashy looking game that is all bling and no-thing of other merit. My beloved Heroes of Might and Magic can be a bit of a space hog, has to be played with disk, but worth it.

Favorite video game is probably Heroes of Might and Magic stuff and for many reasons. I like you can play alone, or against human and/or computer opponents. Really like you can team up humans against computer foes because I get good at games and some won't play with me after awhile. I love all the mythical creatures and monsters. Building castles and collecting treasure and spells. Graphics are always exceptional for time published and has gone all 3D and such now apparently inproving the battle sequence portion. Worried a bit later improvements may turn out for me not to be, really curious to find out? Could they really improve my favorite game or have they messed it up and made it a different sort of game really? Love "playing" with the map editor feature and building my own maps and scenarios from scratch. Being an artist, my maps are often pictures where the land is shaped into stuff like dragons and other things. Map editors are my favorite feature and a great feature for when you've mastered all the campaigns because you get a whole lot more longevity out of your purchase, or can, via more hours of enojyment than you likely would have gotten out of the game if there wasn't a map editor? Takes hours and hours to make a good large map and some haven't the time, patience, imagination and/or inclination. Have taken months to put together some but they're worth the effort. Much more fun and excitement, as well more challenging than the preset ones. Wish more games had that feature. Never tried playing video games with people online even though Heroes offers that feature. Do play games online but not much other than visiting game sites and playing their offerings they have there.

I'm not up-to-date on all the latest crazes and not sort of gamer that thinks that is a flaw. Doesn't take long to learn a game, but if it is sort that does, it better be darn good and fun so it's worth the effort and time or I'll be putting up for trade even if the most popular this or that of all time? I like it all really, a little bit from most of the game genre catagories. Even love some of the real old stuff with the inferior graphics, so long as it's fun to play? I often suck at first, but if I want to, like the game, and have the opprotunity, can quickly learn to master most games as well as many so-called serious amateur gamer. Even in hockey and games like that which pretty much bore me now, can hold my own. Only learned that dumb game because was pretty much all one particular group of gamer friends back then would play for awhile and because a fella teased I could never kick his butt in this  game at least. Then you know I just had to...even though am sort that strives to beat my own past performance rather than that of others really? I like sports but prefer live action and actual participation. Tend not to always like some of the most popular games. Like a game that has flexible learning curve and where is fun both when learning and exploring at first as well as later once more exprienced. To me, a game sucks that has little to offer once arrived finally at end once or twice which is why I prefer the Heroes sets with map editors over the single campaign sort. Looking forward, thanks to Goozex, to trying out games I"ve not heard of or was too afraid to risk buying having never played them myself before. Can always trade it if I don't enjoy it as much as others might with much less investment lost for having done so the Goozex way rather than retail.

Other Interests besides video games: Learning new things and meeting new people, especially those that share their ideas and opinions, even if different than mine. Certified Graphic Artist with a good deal experience although little lately and none online other than having had my own website once and a bit of fooling around with a GIF animator I found online for use in my PM's and email recreationally, so far. Greatly interested and involved with preparing a new website that will feature another hobby of mine, making original crossword and other puzzles. Love to create and design most anything and even do crafts and colourful chocolate creations. Gardening and cooking are also passions. Computers, photography, camping, music, movies, assorted other performing arts, reading, volunteering and all sorts of things are also of interest too. A home owner, DIY is more than just a hobby, it's a must. Took a course in introduction to basics about plumbing, electrical, drywall and taping, safe use of power tools, and even auto engine parts and basic maintenance etc.  Antiques and collectibles are a hobby also and I love a good yardsale or flea market where, surprise-surprise, I am not afraid and enjoy to haggle. Love classic old cars and can be seen having cargasms even in public. Like to write poetry but don't do it often. Would love to try a stab making my own games some day.

Okay, if you don't like that I am not concise then you shoulda went away before now - you were warned? Hopefully you've learned and read enough and might risk taking a chance trading with me? Want to know something that I didn't include in here, PM me? If not for so much whining on Goozex about possible naughty "noobs" could have kept this short but figured maybe best to offer up extra data if it might somehow instill trust in some of the anti-newbie members to sometime possibly request one of my listings with less trepidation?  That is of course, once I start listing stuff of calibre more to their tastes as it seems some do not appreciate games only worth 100 pts. even if once quite the rage at the time? Frankly, new or not, I wonder why some games are ever valued more than that once they're not a new release? Taste in video games is rather like of art, it's subjective to the individual. Some will like and some won't - that's just how it goes. No right or wrong opinions. So, love me or hate me or somewhere in between, you're welcome to check me out and even ask questions before deciding whether to "risk" trusting me or not. Yeesh, games are pricey but not worth much doing nothing but collect dust hoarded away unplayed on our shelves... most of the time. Wish I still had the over 50 Atari games I gave away though. Hear some reached prices as high as $500.00?! Any gamers here ever play Turbo Grafix system? Other than a Sega handheld game, Turbo Graffix was last non-PC game system I purchased. Tired of continually upgrading and gathering new games and worse when you are into computers for other than game too. Some of the best fun I've ever had has involved taking risks, some of the appeal was in doing so for that matter. Like a thrill as much as most but do not get any burning folks. Am a gamer with a strong sense of fair play.

Need a bit of time to ponder before doing more sharing than I have already. Might add some thoughts on my experiences here, once I've had more than just a few? We'll see? My first transaction was botched (sort of) thanks to my newness and a default setting I couldn't figure out how to change on my own, combined with bad timing of being requested to ship before Goozex had chance to reply to my plea for help. Will do better next time than decline and put game on hold while I awaited assistance. My next request to ship will be accepted and am very sorry didn't know wouldn't have hurt my rep to just PM and let "buyer" know I could not find box and give them opportunity to accept lesser style trade anyway, or decline. Live 'n learn. My next, and only other transaction here so far was to receive a game, sans box, but was a trade that exceeded my expectations anyway and has me happily anxious to request another once I've sent out one or two myself successfully. Happy trading people! Gaming should be fun?! Hoping to find very few here that make it seem otherwise?
