Hi all,

you know I wanted to search on Goozex to see if there is any suitable games for kids..(young kids) and I noticed that there wasn't a section where you could search by ESRB .... I think Goozex needs to have that intergartaed within their site.

Anyway, I also needed some suggestions for my kids who are very young... 3 and almost 2 but they already are playing games.. like bejeweled 2 and the Monkey Ball game on my iphone... also, they enjoy playing with their leapster.... however, they want to be like the adults and play one of the game consoles that we/us adults play...

Can anyone suggest any good games that would be good?  I'm really shocked that PS3 and Xbox360 doesn't have any games for kids.  However, Wii has a lot more options but I prefer to get the games for PS3 .. so if there is any suggestions .. I would be very gratefull.

Thanks inadvance. :)

I did a search for ps3 kids games but this is all I could come up with http://www.gokidsnj.com/nj-business-directory/information-1227/Top-Toys-of-2007-Top-10-Playstation-3-Games-for-Kids.html

Most of these would be good for kids, but in an older age range...possibly the Cars game would be suitable? but I am not sure but the Next-Gen consoles have been tending to focus on the older gaming age, but you could always try buying them a cheap n64 with plenty of great kids games.

Hmm.. Well for Wii there's..

  • Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (it's pretty hard though)
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids (really goofy game)
  • WarioWare

These are all quality games that kids can understand. Banana blitz is hard though, I only listed it because you mentioned your kids like monkey ball on the iPhone.

Console and PC (and handheld) hardware and games are really designed for kids 6+.  Toddlers such as yours could make use of some of the 'Jump Start' games - those teach basic skills and reward basic tasks and are a blast for kids that age (warning: you might still be singing the songs 10 years later!)

Also, there is the whole Leapster thing - *THAT* is the best gaming solution for younger kids.

The PSx and XBOX lines are designed for kids 10+ and really teens and above.  The Wii is meant for 'all ages' but that really means 6+.  I'm sure they are having fun fiddling with your iPhone but lack the cognitive capabilities to get much out of it at this point - they are better served being allowed to be a baby and toddler and gettign stuff made for them so they can alternate playing and pounding on stuff as they are wont to do at that age.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the quick response! :)  My kids are very young, yes, BUT they do play some games on the Wii and do play games older then their age believe it or not... I know they are real young as 3 and 19 months to be exact BUT... they already owned a leapster games when they were 1 and they have been played a lot with and taught by myself and hubby, so, they have learnt to play games pretty good at their age.  Their behaviour as well as their height and intelligance always throws people off on their age.

Anyway, they already do the karokee too and play a Monkey Ball and Bejeweled 2.

I looked up Gamestop and have found a few games that would be good... like, Disney Sing It bundle with Mic and Monopoly... this game would be good for her friends whom come over too who are 5 & 6.

Wii has a lot of kids game that they already play... but recently, my Wii is acting up on me for some reason, however, I was told to unplug it and keep it unplugged for a few minutes then replug it and it should work but I haven't done that yet, so me being lazy am looking for the other console games for them.

Nitendo 64?????? I thought that game console was long gone by now... wow, I can't believe that is still around.  I might get them that one or get them the new kids console that I saw in the stores recently but if its like Leapster games... they get bored of them real fast, so I have to do some research.

:)

I am speaking from similar experience - we just got results back showing neither of our kids got a *single incorrect answer* on the state tests back in Massachusetts ...

Yet somehow they managed to enjoy *age appropriate* material.

I am sorry but that is laughable.

If you really wanted games for the PS3... I'd suggest looking at the PSN. Echochrome, flow, and the playsation eye (provided you have a ps eye) all come to mind.  They are simple, dont involve a ton of reading, and can be fun.

Actually, I found what I wanted on Playstation 2 and I guess all the games that are for 2 to 5 year olds are also PS3 compatible!  Thanks for thew info and help!

For those whom don't know, there are plenty of Playstation 2 games for 2 to 5 and some interactive games too, which maybe found on Target website.

Thanks for the funny comments and normal comments. ;)

you mentioned the playstation eye.... isn't that the interactive game, eyetoy???? If so, I found alot of fun stuff with those on Target... but doesn't that work with the PS2 or PS3? one of the above links helped to check which games worked with PS3.  Some of the Kanomi games though were not compatible with the PS3 and only work with the PS2.

Thanks for the help!!

If, down the road, you still are looking for more games, or if you are still looking for some now, I would definitely go with the N64. It's super-cheap, very sturdy for the kids (I've had mine ever since it's come out, and it's even fallen about 15+ times.), and has good games. One that my 4-year-old nephew has enjoyed for a long time is Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, and Super Smash Bros. I'm sure you can find alot more, but I'd recommend those two (maybe not Super Smash Bros. as much, because it has somewhat complicated controls) for sure.

EDIT: Also, you CAN search games based on their ESRB rating. Just go to an advanced search and somewhere in the requirements for that search you can checkbox only the ratings that you want.

Be careful with the PS2 games. There are different models of the PS3. Not all of them play PS2 games. Do you know which model you have? Have you checked the individual games for compatibility?

(just trying to save you some headaches)

The eye toy and PS3 eye are 2 different cameras. Eyetoy is for PS2 and (someone jump in and correct me if I'm wrong) doesnt have a microphone, and has lower resolution than the PS3 one.

Marble madness & the fish aquarium come to mind.  But your children might get bored with them quickly.

Goodluck
