Hey all. My current computer is pretty much on it's last leg and I've finally talked my wife into upgrading. This puts me in the perfect position to configure a computer with some decent gaming capabilities. I'm looking for some suggestions from anyone out there who likes the action/RPG's. I'm talking diablo clones.
I love hack n' slash RPG's with loot whoring galore. A game I've been eyeballing for a while now is Hellgate: London, but in reading the reviews from Goozex users, it doesn't sound like it's getting much love. I had Titan Quest a while ago and I enjoyed that game a lot, never got around to getting the expansion though.
Anyway, that's about it. I'm hoping to hear about hack n' slash RPG's, but I'm open to pretty much all RPG games that are worth mentioning. All suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
www.ibuypower.com when it comes to upgrading for gaming, other than that can't really help you
I'm actually looking for suggestions just in the games department. As far as the computer system goes, I know exactly what I am buying. I'm looking for good RPG's and Action/RPG's. Mostly the dungeon crawlers, I love to waste away time on those games. PC gamers are passionate about their games, I'm hoping they can give me some good suggestions. Like I said, I was looking at Hellgate: London, but it seems like it isn't getting good reviews from Goozex users.
As far as the computer upgrade goes, I can't afford a gaming PC, I'm not looking to play Crysis. I just need a general PC upgrade, but I'm going to be doing little tweaks to make gaming at least enjoyable on my PC. The last time I upgraded, it was for EverQuest 2 and I got a Pentium 4, 756 MB RAM and a nVidia graphics card. Coming from that, I'm getting a Dell XPS 420 with the Intel Core 2 Quad-Core 2.4GHz, 3 gig dual channel RAM and a ATI Radeon HD3650 256MB graphics card, and I have no idea how good or bad that card is, but it cost an extra $150 so it better be decent.
Though I'm sure you already have it, Diablo sounds like the game for you. Other than that, I recommend Oblivion and Morrowind.

What about Titans Quest ? Heard it was a pretty good rpg, somewhat like diablo .
that website sucks.just came you pay more just go to newegg.com or tigetdirect.com or mwave.com and buy the computer part by part.
cpu
motherboard
video card
power supply
hard drive
also a monitor but if you have one then no.
just use the mouse and keyboard you have.
Ibuypower doesn't suck, they build better machines then most mainstream and if you work 50+ hrs like I do I don't have the time to build machines.
Also Cyberpowerpc.com is good. Just make sure you get at least 2GB of ram, and a semi decent video card, I would say mid range.
As for games, Try Dungeon Seige 1 or 2, I also like the Fallout games but that's more turn based then anything.

Sounds like hmm.. Txa is your man. I'm sure he'd hmm.. be able to give you hmm.. a lot of suggestions.
Not sure how old your current machine is, so I might go a few years back here:
Second on Oblivion (although the menu interface screams "CONSOLE!".
I also like Guild Wars (has a point and click rpg feel).
Dungeon Siege 2 isn't bad.
Sacred was great.
Knights of the Old Republic doesn't look as nice now, but the storyline was awesome, as was gameplay.
I enjoyed Mass Effect (like Knights, but with guns, and not as good story, although not bad story either).
I hear good things about Neverwinter Nights 2 + expansion
Non-RPGs:
Thief: Deadly Shadows (first person sneaker)
Orange Box
Civ 4
Galactic Civilizations 2 with expansions
Space Rangers 2 (I loved it because of its varied gameplay. Very unique)
For President!
I'll drop them into three buckets: action-RPG's and 'traditional RPG's with real-time combat' and 'Other great RPG's' ... warning, some of these are pretty old, but in general are all from 1999+
Action-RPG's
- Diablo 1 & 2 ... yeah, the standard-bearers. D2 with expansions is really the way to go for this one.
- Nox - cool story, fun gameplay.
- Sacred (& expansion) - very much a 'spiritual successor' to D2, ince huge world.
- Sacred 2 - coming in November (demo available)
- Space Hack -my review basically said 'Diablo in space = Space Hack'
- Space Siege - yawnsville ...
- Alien Shooter Vengeance - lite on the RP, but heavy on the 'blwin' crap up'!
- Shadowgrounds - more an isometric shooter than an action-RPG, but loads of fun
- Shadowgrounds: Survivor - sequel to above, with more RPG-ish stuff added.
- The Chosen: Well of Souls - lesser version of Space Hack
- Titan Quest (& expansion) - fun combination of mythology and traditional action-RPG
- Legend: Hand of God - nice graphics, absolutely average game. Traditional 'Diable Clone'
- Fate (and whatever the sequel was called) - fun, family friendly dungeon crawls.
- Silverfall - style over substance with some glaring flaws.
- Silverfall: Earth Awakening - better enough than the original that it gets its' own line. This one is worth grabbing.
- Hellgate London - the fully patched version is much better, but it is still a bland and 'meh' experience.
- Dungeon Siege 1 -I thought it was the most mindless action-RPG ever until Space Siege came along (same team). Only reason to get this is for the 'Lazarus' Ultima V remake.
- Dungeon Siege 2 - better story, better characters and better overall experience. Skip the 'Broken World' expansion, though.
- Dawn of Magic - yeah, yet another Diablo-esque.
Traditional RPG's with Real-time combat
- Divine Divinity - one of the great RPG's of all time, but scares many away with action combat and exhausting first dungeon.
- Beyond Divinity - forgettable follow-up to DivDiv.
- Darkstone - looks awful now, still has a decent story
- Dungeon Lords - get the CE only. Still deeply flawed, but can be decent fun for cheap.
- Gothic 1, 2, 3 - the best 3rd-person action-RPG franchise. Great combat, great story, excellent RP-ing. Puts the Elder Scrolls series to shame.
- Elder Scrolls (Morrowind and Oblivion) - decent action games with large empty worlds and some excellent lore that is lost in the meaninglessness of the experience.
- Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines - buggy at launch, it still has some of the best all-time writing and opportunities for role-playing. Another all-time great. (I'd also recommend Troika's other two games Arcanum and Temple of Elemental Evil, but they are boht turn-based).
- Arx Fatalis - great dungeon crawler with a nice story and great character choices.
Other great RPG's
- The Witcher - one of the best RPG's of all time.
- KotOR 1 & 2 - great stories and characters and opportunities for RP-ing.
- NWN 1 & 2 & expansions & modules ... enough to keep you playing for years.
- Wizardry VIII - vastly underappreciated ... a true classic.
- Space Rangers 2 - comes with #1 and has loads of different game types.
I know I'm forgetting bunches, but tried to focus on the action-RPG side of things.

Excellent list TXA, thanks a lot. The Witcher is on it's way (it has been for about a week and a half anyways...) and I was looking for some other good suggestions. This list should keep me busy for a long time, weeding them out and picking which ones when.
Also for the PC I have Spore and Loki on the way. Loki particularly interested me. Again thanks for the list, great stuff.
Ah ... I forgot Loki ... well, that was easy enough to do given that it is pretty much drawn out and boring. I was going to review it for RPGWatch but nearly lost the will to live in the attempt ...
If you have specific questions let me know.

I played the demo for Loki and it intrigued me. Apparently my standards are pretty low, lol. Of course they only let you play one class and tease you with other features. It made me want more.
dont know if you like RTS games, but if you do and haven't played, warcraft 3 and frozen throne expansion are a must
I-Weapon-X:dont know if you like RTS games, but if you do and haven't played, warcraft 3 and frozen throne expansion are a must
Despite being isometric and click-heavy, there is a *world* of difference between RTS and action-RPG ... RTS is oen of my least-favorite genres.
