Ok so i just want to know, when Spore goes back up for trade will we still have our trade spots? or will we have to request it again? Cause i was spot number 5 and i stayed up from 12:30-1:30 pressing the refresh button...(yeah I had nothing else to do and I really wanted this game). Also if we do have to request the game again what day will it be and what time? Thanks!

I doubt it will because of DRM issues.
spore will not be back up, (most likely) ever. blame EA for adding DRM so you can't install the game more than 3 times.
P.S. your sig is really annoying and i suggest removing it as animated .gif's are not allowed
Didn't Mass Effect for the PC have a similar type of DRM? If EA releases a patch to remedy the DRM issue, will it be back up?
ribbed.us
mass effect is different because it doesn't have a online component
Well Spore for the PC is back up for trade, Mac version is not though. I am second in line over all
It's only temporary. Got this in my email:
"Hi there, We have temporarily activated the game for trade until all open trades are closed."
But like Spore, both of them don't require the user to use a one time only code to create an account. I don't know why Spore can't be re-opened permanently. A simple call to EA to give you back your activations would fix the problem I believe.

This article agrees with you. While Ars Technica's customer service experience might be closer to a "your mileage may vary" situation, I think EA has probably instructed its reps to be liberal with their key-granting given the recent backlash (Ars told the rep that they had rented the game, and was successful getting a code).
Also, note that the reviewers successfully installed the game more than 3 times across various machines.
In the end, they lean toward the side of "this is more a philosophical debate rather than an actual problem."
I say put Spore back on.
This is where I see a problem with trading Spore...
Hi Spore Players, First, we want to thank you for your responses and feedback to my posting from Friday regarding Online Accounts and clarifying how things work. We’re listening and we want to announce some changes that we are making based on your feedback. We are going to add the ability to have multiple Spore Screen Names for any one Spore Online Account. Here’s how this will work: for each copy of Spore that you have purchased, you will be able to have one Spore Online Account, just as it is now. However, we will be adding the ability to have five Spore Screen Names for that account. When you launch Spore, you will be able to log in with any of those Screen Names. The content that is made and the MySpore Page will be associated with the logged in Screen Name for that account. Each Screen Name will be able to view and create content, Buddy Lists and Sporecasts that will be tied to that Screen Name. The Achievements earned will be credited to the Screen Name that is logged in at the time the Achievement is triggered. In the first iteration of this change, all Screen Names will be playing in the same Galaxy and any content downloaded by any Screen Name will be available in the Everything section. We will be putting the ability to add Screen Names to a Spore Online Account on our website. If you already have the game, and want to add new Screen Names to your account you will be able to do so there. We felt that this was a good step in the right direction to begin to respond to the feedback you have given us and evolve Spore (not with an extra set of arms in this case but definitely using our DNA points for the better good). We are aggressively working on this now; we will get back to you with more information on timing as soon as possible. Lucy
I just wanted to update everyone who was following this thread if there are any. It appears Spore is tradeable since I was just able to trade it.
EA told the person I was sending the game to that they did not recommend buying the game second hand since I would have to give my EA username/password. They could however give him a new key for ten dollars. I believe the person I sent my game to just went ahead and spent ten dollars for a new key.
So yeah, EA just irks me for setting what could be a trend in PC gaming or at least in PC EA games.
