sounded pretty scary. knocked out power for over 12 hours but everything seems good now. streets look a bit messed up and the reliant stadium roof got jacked up.
nothing like having howling winds for a couple hours at 70 mph

I've never been in anything of the sort. Did you have to hide in the basement or something?

you didnt evacuate? glad to hear everythings okay
i'm west of the eye. they told us to stay so i stayed. I left for Katrina and a ride to austin which takes 3.5 hours took 19 hours with my 1 yr old and dog and wife. Never again. Unless we are under voluntary evacuation i'm not leaving.
friends of mine slept in the closet with their 1 yr old with no a/c and no air flow. now that is nasty
no basements in houston. you would melt ;)
my parents down a couple blocks still have no power and my friend a couple blocks have no power. invited about 6-8 ppl to my house to crash. hard to sleep without a/c. houston, the land of humidity
wow...having lived in TX for a while I know how fast and violent flash floods can happen. Good to hear you're ok!
my work got cancelled for another 2 days. downtown is closed to the public. galveston looks like a junkyard.
last I looked little under 2 million without power and the ticker on the tv said it will be around 4 weeks if not more. work crews are coming from all over to help debris and utility fixes. this is insane.
man that sucks -- to say the least. keep us posted...
to the 3 people i'm sending games out I have already sent them messages that I will be a bit delayed in sending them their game. Mainly because I ship at my work and I can't go back to work earliest wed.
I've never been through a disaster cleanup like this. it's nutts.
One thing I did notice....
Every major channel is tuned to the disaster and rightly so. but after I survived and got power I want my football! Didn't see a lick of football until NBC was able to just run a ticker at the bottom and at least give me some pitt vs browns.
oh, who knew ice would be a HOT commodity.

That storm totally pwned Geraldo. I don't even want to think of the cleanup of a storm with THAT amount of power!
How It Works + The FAQ x Help Guide = edumacation. Epic Fail.

Good to hear from a survivor
It's great to hear you got power back so quickly. I am in Kentucky and the winds from Ike knocked my power out around 3pm est sunday, with it just comming back on around 10:30am est today. It's strange how it affected us up here, seeing how far away we are, and there was little to no rain involved, just winds reaching up to 70 mph. I know LG&E up here sent out a bunch of workers down to Texas and Louisianna, but recalled some after power started going out in the metro area.

Wow -- that's tough! Mother nature once again proves she's the Mother B and can pwn at will. Are you in/near a KY city or more in rural country?

I'm in a rural area, most of of the area's around me had power back quicker, some the same day, but there are a few still without power. One of the women I work with is still without power, but go down the road a few miles from her and they have power. Then almost everyone in my family is still without phone or internet, somethings up with insight, they all have cable TV service, but the phone and internet don't work.
I nearly went insane after my ds and PSP died, but then I remembered this thing called "Outdoors"... it was a little wierd, and the controls were a little hard to get used to, but I enjoyed it. Kite flying is one of life's simpler things,I had forgotten how much time I can pass just doing that.

I vouch for the outdoors as well. assuming no hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamies, earthquakes, volcanos, dinasours, grizzly bears, and Pennywise the clown that lives in the rain gutters.
