JOCOMAN
That sounds great, but ... why?!?

You are the PSP man.. Nothing special here though. With a homebrew-enabled PSP-1000/2000 you can control it with a 360 or PS3 controller already. I don't know why the program was even made though; it's pretty useless.
Homebrew does get everything SONY are such greedy bastards to make a profit out of.
I still have my 1000 model. I see no need to upgrade. The homebrew is always 2 years ahead of Sony's features.
Just another feather in the cap of the PSP3000, makes you wonder what else lurks under the hood that’s not leaked yet.

Yeah, like the #1 feature, the ability to play games without the bother of having to pay for them

You're referring to pirating. Homebrew is something else.
Well, homebrew PSPs do allow you to play ISOs so they're not 100% wrong.
Anyhow, I had a homebrew PSP and recently upgraded the firmware to it because I really saw no extreme benefit to having one. The NES emulator was nice, but the other emulators had a frame rate like a slideshow. Being able to rip my PS1 games and play them on the go was also a nice feature, though not one that I was really crazy about, and I found most of the homebrew apps to be either not entirely useful or just poorly done.
To each their own, that's just where I'm at on homebrew PSPs... I think it's cool and all, and it certainly has a massive amount of potential (much of which has gone untapped), but it just wasn't that great to me.

I've had a PSP since day 1 and been around long enough to understand the difference between homebrew and illegal warez. Unfortunately the custom firmware that allows the excellent and creative homebrew people are making also allows folks to play pirate games.
And pirated games amount for (my estimate) >99% of why people have custom firmware, and also are largely responsible for the dearth of new games we're seeing right now and the constant struggle Sony has getting 3rd party devs to create original IP's.
It would be nice for playing certain PS1 games that use the L2 and R2 buttons. I also saw someone mention a homebrew that already allows this. Details please?
I'm still on the 1000 and I have no homebrew. I see no benefit of it aside from a snes emulator (is there one?) and the increase load times.
Does the psp-3000 allow us to play our ps3 games on the go? (I would like this, portable LittleBigPlanet!) I don't particularly see the need for a ps3 controller attachment from that and the stated PS1 emulator stuff. *scratches head*

No - some PS3 games allow you to use the PSP as a sort of 'remote control' and get certain features that way, but it is generally just a 'hey millions own the PSP, maybe we can lure a few to buy the PS3' sort of gimmick.
Details on the new PSP-Plus stuff from Sony ... looks kind of cheesy ...
