i bought lost planet extreme conditions the first time it came out for pc.  it was a terrible game as i couldn't play the game since i didn't have a broadband net connection.  with the original lost planet, you had to install the game by first installing the steam application.  once that's installed and you registered with steam, you could then install the game and start playing.  when you bought the game from the store and bought it home, you simply could not put it in a dvd drive, install it and start playing.  instead you had to install steam, register for steam and then install it, which required you to have an internet connection which i didn't have.

however, with the release of lost planet colonies, do you need to be online to play the single player game as well as to install it or do you simply put the cd in your dvd drive, install the program and start playing??

this was the worst experience i had with a game.  bought a $30 dollar game that i could not install to play.

I'm afraid I really don't understand what you are asking.

If you go to the official site (http://lostplanetec.typhoongames.com/story.htm)

you will see the following "Internet: Broadband Connection required for both single-player and multiplayer games"

That should be the case for the original or Colonies.  Don't know how you got it working otherwise.

internet is required for both the single player and multiplayer game on the extreme condition, but i'm not sure for the colonies edition.  because of the need for a broadband internet connection to install on the original release, i could not install and play the game.

Colonies is just the original game with a few multiplayer and single player extras so I would assume the same stuff is required.
