Hey Gooz Community! Adam here. As a new sales associate to Best Buy in my local town, I was recently promoted to floor manager :P After 2 weeks, I showed incredible leadership qualities! Well besides that, enough about me. I would like to know what you would like to see different at your local best buy. Any suggestions at all that you think could help bestbuy. Or maybe make it easier to get something, quicker. Just let me know and I can put a good word in :) and see what can be done. BTW Im not just bsing, the corporate realizes I use this site quite frequently and wanted me to be in charge of PR on Goozex :)
DONT FORGET! IPHONES HIT THE STORE SEPTEMBER 7th. FIRST INDEPEN. Store to carry Iphones :)
Congratulations on your new position!
Somewhere on the Goozex forums, I posted a horror story about trying to deal with Best Buy's 1-800 service number when trying to get a defective TV taken care of. It's been a while, but you might be able to find it if you use the search function. I don't want to repeat all the gory details, but Best Buy REALLY needs to improve in that department. What a nightmare that was.

kudos goliekid!
If i'm not getting my games at Goozex, you can bet I'm at Best Buy.
I do have some issues to raise however, but they may only be applicable to local Best Buys here in NJ.
Lately, a disturbing trend has been happening with the gaming department. Local Best Buy stores have been moving to storing games in locked cages by the register while keeping only printouts of game covers in the boxes in the bins. While I understand stores must do what they can to releive 'shrinkage', the selection in the racks is becoming more and more disorganized and unmaintained.
Several times i have gone to pick up a new release only to find NONE on display, and not even a bin card to signify their arrival in the store. Sure enough when I go to the front of the store I find stacks of all the new releases locked away in the cages.
While I'll admit, there isn't much to look at when shopping for games, I physically go to the store to be able to pick up the boxes as I debate my purchases. The recent move to locking away all these games is just pushing me towards ordering everything from Amazon.com (for the free shipping) as opposed to shopping in Best Buy since the 'experience' has been diminished.
I would love to see Best Buy do a bit more to make the game shopping experience worth while. Set up more demo kiosks, keep the games IN the gaming section, throw a couch or a couple chairs in there so people can comfortably demo some upcoming titles.
A pipe dream, I'm sure - but just my two cents...

Congratulations!
I love my Best Buy (probably too much)
For President!
Tenga, same thing has been happening in Northern NJ. (not sure what part of the state you're from) however my store is hiding games in the Magnolia Home Theater section instead of at the register. it's been going on since at least March (when Brawl came out)
I hope I get a promotion in two weeks (I start at Best Buy tomorrow) maybe i can get an answer.
I'm in Northern NJ as well. My usual Best Buy is the Totowa location which held out on the cages for a while until recently :(
Now they are notoriously bad with the new releases. It's as if whomever putting them in the cage never even considers putting a copy (or even a display copy) out in the racks. So when you're browsing for a game you have to peer through the cage until you find it, then find someone to open the cage and get the game for you, THEN wait in line at the register.
i'm over in rockaway, but i know where the towota/west paterson store is. (stuck in traffic way too many times trying to get to Route 3 up the Route 46 hill) i would think this this must be a new corporate policy.
I kind of thinks best buys coupons are really pointless. There are so many restrictions its crazy. We can like never use the coupons and then one time my dad got a bunch of coupons of ebay and we kept giving them to the lady when we were checking out and seeing which ones worked for it and which ones didn't... Most of them didn't.... It was a little annoying.
Best Buy could deal with doing better pricing, some stuff is way off
whenever they send out reward zone coupons there is always one for 10% video games and accessories. that the only coupon i ever deal with. as for the bad pricing, I'd say for more than 50% of my purchases i price match somewhere else (usually either circuit city or PC Richards (who I hate along with electronics expo [local nyc area chains])) Best Buy is my only major Electronic store within 15 minutes (not counting sears, wally world, or office stores)
Yeah, that 10% video games is always a nice coupon. I've also had good luck with ones from cheapassgamer.com
Every now and then I'll run into a problem with a Best Buy coupon, but for the most part I've had pretty good luck with them.
Another complaint I have is that you no longer get rewards points when redeeming your gift cards, only when purchasing them. I've long since trained my family that birthdays / holidays = Gift Cards for me, and I was getting the rewards points on top of those for even more gift cards but no longer :(
tenga, i found out the answer to your question/problem. the basic answer is that there is too much shoplifting going on in our district (northern and part of central NJ), espeically in the gaming media and camera departments.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that, it's just a shame the effect it has on paying customers such as myself. In order to combat shoplifting they are ruining the experience for the rest of us. I understand what they're trying to do I just wish there was a better way.
oh well, what can you do...

Clearly, the only solution is to become a masked vigilante and rid the streets of those thieving scum who have been ruining your shopping experience.
...or maybe I just want to see more masked vigilantes out there
