Having people skills is all they are probably looking for, but if you have knowledge about the products it will be a bit better. They will teach you some about the products in whatever department you end up in. Be nice, dress well, and you should do fine.

LOL!!!!
On that note, don't waste your money there either. Check out the cool gadgets there and buy elsewhere where prices are lower. What department are you going for? I'd be working there if my job wasn't at Home Depot paint department this summer. Maybe next summer there will be one nearby to where I live. A Circuit City just opened. But college calls me back!

Doesn't Cheapass gamer have the Sunday ads posted like 2 weeks in advance?
Oh and as for suggestions, Seeing as how it's a dealing with the public job, get ready to deal with some phenomenal idiocy, and some of the biggest ass****s you've ever seen I've worked in a Supermarket for the past 7 years, and you wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've had to deal with, and seeing as how Best Buy is a tech store I would imagine you'll probably get it worse.

Find another job? Just kidding good luck. Dress and act professionally, appear to be interested in everything they are telling you. If you remember to look the interviewer square in the eyes and maintain eye contact no matter how boring, inane etc the conversation. Try to think of a couple of intelligent sounding questions about the position to ask as well but avoid asking about salary, benefits etc for now. Let them breach that discussion (and if they are interested in you they will bring it up). During the interview they will probably mention some core values that the company has and it always good to bring those up in brief ancedotes later when they ask some of those open ended questions. "What are your goals, where do you see yourself in 5 years etc" For instance if a core value is friendliness you could say something like "one of the things I always like about my jobs is the ability to get to know my customer so I can best serve their needs."
kklems:What are your goals
Here are some good answers: My goal is to work at Best Buy.
kklems:where do you see yourself in 5 years
Um, Best Buy. More seriously though...
kklems:"one of the things I always like about my jobs is the ability to get to know my customer so I can best serve their needs."
That's a winner. Any job where you are going to be interacting with customers constantly, the interviewer will want to hear you speak about how the best possible customer service is most important to you. Good luck! Oh, and btw, when is this interview so we know when to stop posting? LOL!
i knew the assistant manager at one of the best buys stores where i live through my pops and the dude was funny because he kicked this guy's ass in the restroom because he was catching him stealing when the guy pulled a knife on him, plus he had "anger problems" so it was funny to see him talk shit and yell at the employs sometimes.
I just got hired by Best Buy about a week and a half ago.
Interview wasn't too bad but make sure you dress professionally. Be prepared to wait longer for the interview than the actual interview will take.
I haven't actually started yet as I've been out of state for the last four days.
Whoever said don't buy anything at Best buy doesn't know what the employee discount is. (It's pretty good )
