What do you make of this?  Does this actually mean anything?  Do more people actually like the ps3 more than the xbox in ANY category?  I have always got the feeling that there are a lot more people who would prefer the 360 over the ps3. 

I always got the feeling more people could afford the 360 over the PS3.

 

As a teenager, I owned a PS2 and an Xbox, but when it came to "next gen" systems, I really only wanted a PS3.

 

Of course I may have been biased against the xbox from my lifelong PC gaming too... 

Playstation has always had a more popular brand image, so that's no surprise. Of course the infamous "thumb" ad may be helpful too.

Personally, Im not a teen, but I dont have a preference to either company or console. However I do have a preference to the collection of 360 games of the current PS3 library. I also have a preference for XBL over the PSN, wich again boils down to content. I do long for the day where Ill sit in my reclyner and have to ponder which console to play on.

Thats a matter of preference. I litterally dont like any of those japanamation RPG games that over populate the PS2 catalog. I prefer shooters and sports games so the Xbox was a better choice for me. There is no denying the huge library of games that the PS2 has, unfortunately it also has a huge library of games I have no interest in what so ever.

But kids and teens tend to fall under the assumption that whatever has the best specs and has the higher price tag is automatically the best. They don't take the next step and consider what games are out for either or if they do have the mental maturity to do so, they often fall easily for common fanboy arguments like LameAss's here, "sure it doesn't have a huge library now, but have you played Resistance?!" "sure there aren't a lot of games now, but wait until Lair comes out!!!" "sure there aren't a lot of games now, but wait until Heavenly Sword comes out!" "...Haze is going to blow the 360 out of the water!" "can't decide which system to get? Metal Gear Solid 4. That's all you need to know!" "God of War 3 will be the only game you need."

I grew up playing on the original Playstation,  sure  I HAD an xbox, but I just prefer Playstation because its been the core of my console lifespan.
