I just beat this game for the first time, 10 years after it was released, and I must say that it has withstood the test of time. For my member rating, I gave it 5 across the board for being ahead of it's time. While I wasn't a big fan of some of the game mechanics, the narrative flow of the game that makes it feel like you are playing through a film make it worth playing even now. Storywise, it stands with the best games of today.

Now, on to MGS2. :)

Though I think that the gameplay may hold up, I am still troubled playing the great majority of PSX games now as I believe that the graphics do not hold up.  3d graphics from that era hurt my sensitive Nintendo-lovin' eyes.

 I enjoyed the Gamecube remake:  MGS:  Twin Snakes.   Graphics + Gameplay = Winner!
