This is the official place to post your suggestions about how the "Shipping Options" (Disc Only, Disc+Manual, Full Package) should be changed in order to help Goozex members trade games more efficiently.

Please keep discussion on this topic confined to this thread so that the Goozex Team can more easily review what people are recommending. Any other new threads on this topic will be deleted and the posts moved here.

Thanks in advance!

While there has already been discussion on adding a 4th option (disc+case) I think making it more clear to the purchaser what game they are actually getting in the mail would be helpful. Your system is setup to a minimum standard, meaning I set "disc only" as my lowest common denominator. Chances are very likely that I will get the whole package on a game. Perhaps in the notification emails that are sent out when there is a match, indicate more clearly what exactly I am getting condition wise.

It would also be great to implement a package tracking API into the site under the games and request library. I am not programmer but there are  a million widgets and other interfaces out there that take advantage of USPS, Fed EX and UPS tracking numbers. Having that dynamically updated in my library or in my requests section would not only be useful, I think it would encourage more people to put those on their packages.

At the very least let us just list that number to our buyer so they can input it into their own widget or whatever.

You can always send a PM with the delivery confirmation number in it.

I'm a little confused on this.  Why wouldn't you just set your default to Full Package?  Or are you saying that when somebody accepts to send you a game, the condition they are sending it in is disclosed?

Sure you could, but the point of this post is for suggestions to make the service better isn't it?  If Goozex wants to grow and be a more cohesive service, all of the services need to be integrated into the system. Personally I think the site really needs to expand into a gamer social community. That is off topic though.   If you want people to do stuff you have to make it dumb easy for them and make it extremely visible. It is very clear from the discussions on this forum that moderators and senior members want more people to use package tracking. That is great and I am all for that, but if that is something you want to do it unfortunately is going to require Goozex to implement a system that encourages that habit. It will not develop on its own. People need to be hand fed.

I have no problem recieving a disc only, I just would like it spelled out more clearly in the match email (or through some other means) as to what the match condition was. Just because I have set to disc only, there is a very high chance that it could be better then disc only. I would just like to know what that is. Information is good.

Is that supposed to be a snarky insult or an "I see now"?

I think that's Canadian for, "I smell what you're cooking."

As I've stated in various topics before, I think there should be a Game + Case option, as it's very easy to implement it if you make it equal to Disc + manual.

Basically it's setup as this.

Disc Only (you'll receive any option available)

Disc + Case OR Disc + Manual  (If you choose one, you wont receive the other. You only have a chance to get full package as your other option if its available)

Full Package (self-explanatory)

Demonstrating that, I still can't figure out how anyone can argue against it, as it would not affect people requesting disc + manual, but it would allow for those who prefer a case to display than just a disc and manual laying around.  And please don't give me the arguement of "You can print out a replacement cover", as I would rather have an original cover than a print out.

Sorry aboot that.  Tainted is right, it's an "I see now".

You make some very good points, I can only hope the end result is a tight knit community of gamers.  My fear is that DC becomes mandatory.  If it did I might as well board a plane and hand deliver my games as it would cost much less than shipping games to the States with DC.

What would happen if adding a fourth shipping option to the system would cause any slow down?  We've all seen the 45,153 threads stating there should be an option for Disc+Original Case.  How would that fit into the system?  If it were to happen I think it should just above Disc Only but below Disc+Manual, but that's just my opinion.  I'm sure there will be a fair amount of support for it being more "valuable" than Disc+Manual.  Thoughts?

Ur missing the point. It should be equal with disc + manual. If I want disc + case, then obviously I don't want disc + manual without the case.  If you make it equal, than it won't affect the people who want disc + manual at all, so I don't see why people who ask for disc + manual even care if the option is added. Would it cause slow down? I think it would slow it up a little at first, but once the implementation has been in for awhile and people add/fix their games to the option, things will be back to normal.

  I don't believe I am.

I don't know much about programming (go Fortran!) but I'm assuming the algorithm the site uses has to run so conditions or if statements (like excel) where a value must be placed on each option.  Unless there is a way around that I'm more than happy to have them as equals Left Hug Right Hug

G-Nitro:
Would it cause slow down?

I think this is mentioned because the algorithm will become more complicated and thus will take more time for it to run.

Only in the beginning, as it's a change to the system. Any changes to the system would have to be given the time for people to start utilizing it and understanding how it works.  In the long run I see it speeding up the trading process. As instead of disc only, I could post up some of my games as disc and case, and then sellers wouldn't have to wait for someone who wants disc only.

Biggest thing is, you would have to make sure games like Dreamcast and PS1 would have to have the back insert to be considered disc + case, or people would probably abuse the option by thinking any jewel case will suffice. That would be my only concern for the option.

Make the option "Original Case and Cover Art"
