Need gamer help!

My only source of real gaming, my original XBOX, just lost its DVD player. I can't get it to work even after taking it apart and replacing the SCSI and power cables. Anyone have any recommendations as to where to look for a decently priced DVD player for the XBOX or even a brand new console? I'd be really grateful for any help...

Ask your friends.  There is someone who is bound to make the leap to next-gen who will gladly give you their old system....you would be surprised how little an older system means to some people.

Or, you can stand outside a busy EB/Gamestop and whore the store as you see someone walk up to their front door for a trade-in.  Offer them a fair price and cash, and you don't even have to beat EB/GameStop's price.  This the shadier of the two methods, but one bound to get you a cheap system.

Yeah the second method didnt work for me. So i saw this guy that was selling his wii, everything , including 10 or so wii games and  a virtual console controller.

So i wanted the vc controller and offered him what gamestop offered him.

Instead of being a friendly gamer and accepting, he actually still sold it to gamestop. Thanks a lot you jerk! 

If anyone here is in the situation of upgrading XBOX and would be willing to sell their original box in good working condition, please post or message me. Thanks for the advice. I feel like an XBOX pimp standing in the corner offering deals. =)

I have a 2nd xbox I'd gladly unload pretty cheap-even better, I'm local, I reside in Friendship Heights. Mine is an older Xbox, complete in box with a fat controller. Do you want all of that, or just the console itself?

Ahh, I jumped the gun and should have waited. I just bought one on e-bay for $90. I know...overpriced. But like I said, it's my only gaming system and I'm on week 3 of withdrawal. Thanks for offering though. I wish I hadn't bought it yet. If not the price, now I have to wait for the guy to ship it.

Game Stop was selling Xbox systems for $50 a few weeks ago... you might want to sign up for their email's. They send out a new coupon every week with their weekly email.

That makes me feel even worse. The withdrawal pains must have clouded my judgement. But I will sign up for the news letter. Thanks for the tip.
