Should i get Morrowind or Fable, the Morrowing graphics look a bit dated, but a used copy is a lot cheaper than Fable.

The graphics on Fable aren't anything to write home about (especially by today's standards) and the game sucks pretty hard overall. I'd definitely go with Morrowind.

Fable is fun but shallow IMO.  Morrowind is deep but can get overwhelming for some people.

It depends on what kind of gamer you are.

Not only are the graphics not so good, but the combat system is not good either. in morrowind, its hard to kill a rat. At least you can do that and more in Fable. If you can, get Fable. I have two copies myself.

I'd say neither. Morrowing is a big world that doesn't feel alive. and Fable falls miles short of it's promise.

Morrowind is huge. When I played that game, I had no idea what to do. Completely daunted by the game, I got nowhere and never played again. Luckily Oblivion holds your hand a little more in that series.

Fable I had fun with, but as stated by someone else, it's a short game. It's nice to see a game where your character is in constant progression with visual results. I enjoyed the game, but beat it within a rental cycle and I spent only a fraction of a day actually doing the main game, while beforehand I was just messing around being as evil as I wanted to be.

I would say its a matter of opinion in your play style. Do you like hardcore RPG's or a more laid back approach? Morrowind offers a lot to people who are into heavy dialogue and story elements, whereas Fable doesn't have a really strong story, but the action in the game is fun, not too complex and your gameplay style is rewarded with visible results.

Fable=empty promises. And I will never forgive Peter Monoleux-I think I might've spelled it wrong-for that.

The game is decent, but Morrowind makes promises it can actually keep. And it's immersive, life consuming, and has over 100 hours of actual gameplay, or so I've heard.

If you like RPGs alot...get both. They're both amazing I though. Fable's short but I beat it 3 times and morrowind about 5.

I played both and got bored of both pretty quickly. Fable is fun to roam around and kill random people but morrowind feels like its empty everywhere you go. If I had to choose though I'd go with Morrowind since it is a much longer game than Fable and there are many things you can do in the game. May keep you playing for a while if you really are into rpg's.

try and stay as a sane human as your fable character

try and stay in the balance instead of good and evil

Nice call Caopi, at least with KOTR you can finish it in a fair amount of time unlike Morrowind.

I hated Morrowind, with a passion at first. Then, when I got over the learning curve, I got so deeply immersed in it. It edged out Halo as my favorite Xbox game, and is easily #2 for my favorite RPG of all time (behind Earthbound, sometimes in front of it depending on my mood), and overall, it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Now that's not saying you'd like it. You need to fit the criteria so to speak. First, you have to be willing to get over a frustrating learning curve. At first, it'll seem like you can't hit anything with your weapon. But that's just because while Morrowind appears to be a real-time combat RPG, the actual mechanics behind the gameplay are structured more like a turn-based RPG. This means that, when your skills are really low, you'll miss most strikes. However, it's pretty easy to gain the skills and land every hit with a little bit of time.

That's the second criteria, and it feeds into the first one: Patience. You need a lot of it. Not just to get over the learning curve, but to play through the roughly 200 hours of missions and side missions in the game. It's fun, but it takes patience.

Thirdly, you have to have a good imagination. Just expecting the game to tell you the story (like in most games with stories) isn't going to work. You'd get bored relatively quickly, because the game leaves a lot of the story up to your imagination.

Fourth, you have to enjoy reading. There's a little bit of spoken dialog in the game, but the vast majority of the story is told in text. If you can't stand that, you need not apply.

If you fit all the criteria except the fourth and maybe the first, then you'd be much better off to go for Oblivion. If you don't fit any of these, you should steer clear of all Elder Scrolls games.  If you fit all this criteria (like me), you'll probably like Morrowind more than Oblivion (which I do).

I hope this was helpful. I haven't played Fable yet so I can't judge.

if you want a more immersive game, go with morrowind, but i had more fun with fable.  Both games were fun, but more enjoyable, imo, is Fable
