    Hi everyone,

There is a new points price cap for games.  The cap has increased from 1000 to 1200 points.  This was done for the following reasons:

    1. Member feedback -- both here on the forums and from emails

    2. Better match to some of the newer used games in the market place

    3. Allow sellers to earn more points for highly demanded games

-some of the feedback we received was that sellers would be more inclined to put up a game if the price increased a little and some buyers echoed that they wouldn't mind paying a little more for high end games.

We understand this has come as a surprise to many of you and the timing was a little off on our part with this and the release of our latest newsletter.  We apologize for the inconvience this may have caused.

So I think that the survay you had about what somone would have their game go for had some help with this new point cap. I would not mind spending more to get a game I truely want.

hmm..this could go both ways..but if it can move those high in demand games and keep them moving..then i dont mind the price hike..the only thing is like you mentioned...it caught me by surprirse..but i got a question if this does not work the way you want it to..are you going to change it back to the way it was??? Anyways here is to a better goozex!!!

In the logrun? Probably a good move for the company, but as someone who buys a lot of 1000 point games I'm a little saddened by the devaluing of my points in a technical sense.

In the shortrun? I just send out a handful of 1000 point games that were in high demand. I'm out quite a few points that I would have waited for. Ah well.

I'm not sure about the point raise. I liked knowing that I would pay $50 equivalent for a newer/used game. But if it is 1200 and keeping it at $5 per 100, wouldnt that be $60 for a used game? I guess I'm just frugal with whatever points I have left. Ah well.

I don't mind it for the games that aren't put up enough.. and maybe for LE/CE's and such. We'll have to see =)

The problem with introducing an increased cap in midst of all this trading is that it puts many traders in a really bad position, while it lets many other traders get a fantastic deal on high-demand games. For example, I usually trade games for other games of equal value, usually 1000 pts because I like to play most of the high-demand games. So I have traded in heavenly sword for 1000 pts, and I was on the waiting list for some other games such as devil may cry, which are high-demand, and are hence, 1000 pts. Now, since the cap is 1200 pts, games like Devil May Cry and Call of Duty 4, and many more, will quickly jump to 1200 pts within a couple of weeks due to the many requests. Now, I have sent in my heavenly sword for a mere 1000 points so now I have to purchase 200 extra points for no reason.

This is however extremely good for people who have just recently recieved these high-demand games because they are guaranteed to sell for 1200, points giving them an extra 200 points for just recieving the game before the points cap was increased. I for one do not think this is fair at all.

The only way to really justify increasing the points cap is to provide some sort of compensation for this for people who have previously sent in high-demand games for a mere 1000 pts. I dont know if this is possible but Goozex should fund their accounts with 200 points per game to give them the ability to battle the inflation.

I really think that goozex should keep the cap at 1000 points, it has worked so well since the beginning. I think that if they really want to raise the points cap, they should do it only for certain games such as collectors editions, or guitar hero bundles that include the guitar so that people can begin trading those games too, and actually get some sort of value from them. For example, for all collector edition games, the cap should be 1200 pts, but for all regular games the cap should stick to 1000 points. Since these collector edition games are hardly traded anyways, not many users will be affected by the change. For games like guitar hero and rock band which come with the peripherals included, the cap should be around 1500-2000. This way, trading will speed up and the variety of games available will greatly increase.

I don't like it because my points just suddenly became worth less. Now, I will be less inclined to trade low point games because it will take 20% more points to get newer games. Trading in 12 100 point games to get 1 new game is on par with EB's trade in values and goozex now seems like less of a deal.

Seconded, but it should be for your entire point balance as well.  Previously, when I traded a "600" point game here I didn't do it because I got "600" points.  I did it because it would get me 60% of the way to getting a new release game.  Now, the 600 points only gets me 50% of the way to a new release game.  Everyone's points were devalued today, but those who sent out a lot of 1000 point games were hit especially hard by it.

I'm bummed because in the end, I don't think this change is going to accomplish anything but devalue our existing points.  The only people that would benefit from this are those that are looking to trade in new release games in order to buy a bunch of older games.  Most people that trade in newer games, however, do it so they can get another new game.  So now they'll get 1200 for a new game and turn around and spend the 1200 on another new game.  Nothing changed.

I'm on the fence with this, but I'm mostly a complacent person, so long as I'm not taken advantage of. That said, here's my question. 3 games that I have on Hold for requests were 1000 points (Mass Effect, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl) they went up to 1050. Are they going to stay there or are you guys going to increase their values weekly? I think if you plan on making changes to the system then you should just go all out and make everything at what value they will be so we can get used to it. I'd rather not see everything go up week after week, that's a little discouraging. At least if you do it all at once IE: take newer games like SSBB and immediately put it at 1200 points, there's a little bit of a shock value tied to it, but its over right away and people will be used to seeing it sooner, thus accepted by the Goozex community sooner.

    Catastrophic

I certainly understand the frustration of people when it comes to raising the points limit, because it does in a way devalue trades which have just recently taken place.  In another way though, it does level the playing field for those of you who have 360's and PS3's.  I have a Wii.  I think it's a bit unfair for me to be able to trade a 1000 point game on the Wii that is selling for $50 and get a 1000 point game on the 360 that is selling for $60.

If you think about it, this is a market of supply and demand.  If you do not deem it worth the extra 200 points, then either wait or buy it in the store new.  I think it will all even out in the end.

I myself am also on the fence about this. I understand it will keep things moving a little faster but even so that's an extra 200 points and it would be the same as buying a brand new game. I'm sure in the long run it will even out but right now it kinda sucks.

I do agree with the poster who said complete packages of Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc. should be more.

I agree fully with this user. I found the idea of flexible point values much more appealing.

I fully approve. Gets more wanted game into the market and reduces queue times for buyers. Just as long as this is the only cap increase for a significant time. :)

I agree I don't think this is the best step, if the idea of this is to increase trades for high demand games why not offer 100 points extra for say the top 10 requested games of the previous month, so lets say Mario Galaxy and Halo 3 are the most requested for the month of March, so for the entire month of April they are worth an extra 100 points, if lets say Assasians Creed and Resistance become the most requested for April, then for the month of May they are worth an extra 100 points, its probably hard to tell how new ideas will work until they are put into practice so I guess time will tell
