My wife and I played Animal Crossing daily for a year when it came out. We even stayed in on New Year's Eve that year to watch the fireworks in the village which is about as nerdy as you can get. lol.

We had a lot of fun writing really weird and twisted letters to the animal residents in the hope that they would show them to the other player. The only bad thing is that a friend came over with his memory card so we could visit each others villages, and one of our residents moved into his village. His little brother was also playing it with him at home and our resident started showing his little brother all our horrible letters. My friend was not happy... at all. My wife and I found it both horrifying and oddly amusing at the same time. Surprise

I hope the rumored Animal Crossing for Wii has keyboard and external email support. That would be all sorts of fun.

We love this game, but one problem is that whenever we write a letter to another resident, all they ever say is that they didn't understand what we are saying. I've read a FAQ and it noted that you have to be sure to manually put in line breaks so that words aren't chopped in two at the end of line, but even doing that it makes no difference. Even sending a completely blank letter gets the same response. I had read in the faq that if you send an item along with your letter they usually send you something back better, but instead all we ever get is a response saying they didn't understand it, with nothing attached.

Try starting with something basic like: "Hi! How are you? I think you're nice!"

The more you write the less they understand.

I will try again, but I'm pretty sure that I've tried something as simple as "Hello" and nothing else, and they still didn't understand it. I've been wondering if there is some problem with the Greatest Hits version of the game that isn't in the original copy. Anyway, I'll try again tonight if I get a chance.
