well, things have been going not so well with me lately financial-wise so I decided to sell the working one of the two Xbox 360's I have.  I posted it on Craigslist along with Guitar Hero 2, Gears of War, Halo 3 Legendary, and a couple of other games.  I was asking around $550.00 for it (and it's a pretty big package) and was getting no responses for the longest time, until I got an e-mail offering a trade that intrigued me.  The guy was offering a Nintendo ds Lite with one game, a gamecube with 7 games, an original Xbox with 6 games, and (this is what got me) a Sega Genesis with 101 games.  I responded promptly saying "sweet deal!" and arranged a pickup time after he gave me a list of games that were included.  I figured that even if I hated the games that came with it, I could either sell them on Ebay or trade them in here (fat chance that would work though).  He showed up today (Saturday) and hastily, and a little nervously (he was a little put off by my appearance, as well as his father who had driven him here) took my package without inspecting it, he seemed like a trustworthy kid so I didn't really take a look at the bundle he had given me, although he had taped it up pretty thouroughly in a cardboard box so it would have taken some time anyway.  I cut the box open expecting to find a galore of Genesis titles, and I did, but it wasn't what I expected.  All 101 of the games included where burned on to cheap, non-rewritable cd's (pirated), as well as some of the the Gamecube games.  My world came crashing down around me (actually I was just really pissed).  The only way I can contact him is through e-mail, since I don't have his phone number, and I would like to know if there is any legal action I can take against him in this situation if he doesn't comply, since I know nothing on the subject.  copying and distributing software is illegal right? (I'm in Canada by the way.)

this is why you should always inspect everything before finalizing a trade. I would try and e-mail him, and then contact Craigslist and say he traded illegal copies of games. And I would try to find out who would handle the legality aspect of that. Wether police or another law enforcement type agency and give them the e-mail.  Hopefully they can trace the e-mauil back to someone. But, they may not even try to look for the guy if they don't think it's worth it. you may just eb out a 360. If nothing comes of it, I say just sell everything and try to get some of your money back

I think that G-Nitro speaks the truth.  Follow his advice.  But I really don't know why you didn't check the package before you formally agreed to the swap.  He could have put rocks in the boxes.

Dang man, that sucks. You should find all your correspondence with the person and report them to Craigslist and enlist their help in searching for this person. I guess you could sell off the rest of the items to compensate for the lost. =(

Don't beat yourself too bad.  Sure, you could have been more cautious, but the other guys were crooks...don't wallow in self-pity, get after these thieves and pirates.

wait so, it was 1 disc with 101 roms and an emulator? im sure you could make a alot selling those 2 chipped systems. is the xbox softmodded?

actually each game is burned on to a seperate disk, and made into a boot file  The consoles aren't modded at all, and therefore the entire bundle he gave me is probably worth no more than $250.00 (rough estimate) while mine is worth around $700.00

 none of the xbox games were burned, only the Dreamcast ones.  I'm not even sure if the Gamcube games I thought were burned are actually pirated, the decal on the disks were colorless therefore I assumed they were.
