Hi all.  I came across quite a bit of old things (mostly gaming-related) that I don’t want anymore and thought I’d start this free/giveaway thread.  I was hoping others might also start posting their own lists of items that they are ready to part with for free.

My list of stuff is pretty eclectic; most of it is made up of old game manuals and strategy guides for anyone who wants to complete their "classics" collection.  In any case, if anyone wants anything listed, make sure you PM me instead of posting here on the thread.  I’ll then edit my post to reflect the update.  That way posts will hopefully be limited to the posting of lists.  Once I receive your PM, we can discuss a shipping option, which will most likely be a SASE being sent to me.  Thanks, hope to see some other folks' lists!

Edit:  It was requested that I define SASE.

SASE = Self-addressed stamped envelope; i.e. - an envelope with the recipient's address on it and the proper postage pre-applied (unopened, of course)

Edit:  All items are gone.  Hopefully some other folks end up posting some of their stuff sometime.  Cheers.

This is a pretty good idea, I will throw up some manuals I have. ^__^

On another note, is the Silent Hill strategy guide available for request?

Thanks

PS. Do we list our items here? If so, I'm just going to save this spot and edit it later when I get home. ^__^

Yep, that's the plan.  Hopefully if more people start adding their own, we can arrange for a public-editable wikipost where people can just add their items to a main list and have them linked to a PM form.

I think goozex should also offer a service for strategy guides. I have quite a few I would love to get rid of but they are recent and I don't want to just part with them for free, I know I'm a bit selfish but they are for recent games.

That's a good idea, I'm sure there are lots of people that would be willing to trade points for strategy guides.

The issue has been brought up in the past, and there are two big problems with it, even if Goozex DID decide it was something they wanted to look into (and there are other things people would rather see added to the site first, like Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, controllers, etc.). One is purely technical- Goozex gets their listing from the Muze database. Muze having a games database is understandable. But them having a seperate database for strategy guides? Don't think so. I'd assume that they would be categorized as books.

Second is that strategy guides are much more vulnerable to everyday use wear and tear. There would be complaints left and right about how someone didn't give them full positive feedback for slightly bent edges, or whatever. The line there is not as clear as it is by games themselves.

While it would be great to see a guide, manual, etc. trading feature implemented into the site, it's clear that it's not very likely; however, I would like to keep this thread active for those who wish to give them away without points compensation.  I submitted this suggestion in the Site Suggestions forum also, so hopefully this thread gets sticky'd or something that will keep it from just getting buried.
