Gah! Far Cry Monkeys!

I've really been enjoying Far Cry for the past several days now, but these mutated monkeys........  I thought the game was hard before I could get two shotted by a tiny mob that takes 50+ bullets....

 

Not to mention the jump around like crazy.

 

I'm pretty much limited to assault rifles here, I don't have enough ammo to point blank snipe them.  Thoughts anyone? 

I haven’t played Far Cry but I hear it has crazy tough AI. I wish I could give you some advice.

 

I know monkey knife fights are always fun; so try going after them with a machete.

Typical Far Cry AI in action:

 I see three mercs. standing around, I lay down to steady my aim, pull out my SMG and pick one off.  One guy yells "Keep him busy while I go get the others!"  The remaining soldier lays down suppressing fire while the other soldier runs away. He returns with 3 other mercs.  They flank me. I die.

I just finished it tonight for the second time.
Pace yourself, use the binoculars alot to see where the baddies are and try to sneak up on them. Go for the head, they drop faster. Make sure you use cover. Strafe out from behind a tree and pop off a few rounds then duck behind again. Repeat.

unfortunately, thats not the part I'm having trouble with.... I'm stuck in the giant cage building shortly after the introduction of the monkeys.  (you know, the place you're supposed to get to via the hanging bridges) 

Take out as many as you can before venturing out of the trees. Moving left on the bridges as you enter that level you'll find that the monkey will usually just line up and walk across the bridge at the far left, the one that come in contact with the ground, then you can pick them off one by one.
Getting the keycard from the cave though...don't rush in. Pick them off before they can jump off the ledge.
Listen closely to the music, when it picks up you are about to be attacked.
pull the trigger and swing around wildly LOL!

If memory serves me, those 3 mercs arrive in a jeep, yes?  I recall being able to take them out after they get out of the jeep and approach the building via the stairs, and then I procured the jeep and used the machine gun on the jeep to take out the man-monkey hybrids.  It's been a few years since I've played this, but it is still pretty clear in my mind with what you're contending with - that must mean it was a pretty good game to be so memorable.

Right, after the mercs are down, you are trying to get to a building inside a neighboring cage (filled with monkeys).  Unfortunately for the researchers, one of their bridges has collapsed and the monkeys have climbed up the fallen walkway and are residing inside the building.

If I remember this part correctly I stayed up in bridges and picked them off slowly as I was terrifed of those damn monkey things. Then I ran screaming into the cage area to grab the key and ran screaming out and climbed back up into the trees wimpering.

As for the crazed monkey infested building...I can't quite remember. It was probably too tramatic and I must have blocked it from my memory.

But seriously those damn things always scared the hell out of me. I loved that game though. I remember it becomes very difficult towards the end, damn jumping mutants with guns....I loathe them. Actually I don't think I ever finished Far Cry come to think of it.......

Woot! I made it through with this much health left!  

 

Far Cry is so friggin fun!  Great AI.  Too bad my video card doesn't have enough memory to keep the graphics from chopping in dense forest and large areas.  Darn integrated laptop video cards!  Anybody know if I can integrated graphics?  Sounds like a stupid question to me but oh well... 

1 word of advice cheats.  the process can be a lil frustrating but it pays off unlimited ammo god mode and all weapons it help with those mutated monkeys

should i go ahead and get Far Cry or save up for Crysis? Cuz they seem like the same experience... running around on a tropical island with guns

That would entirely depend on how much juice you have under the hood of your PC
