Just got through playing the newest installment in the Silent Hill series, having played them all so far.  Didn't have many great expectations for this one, mostly because I couldn't see the fear factor from the previous games transferring as well onto the PSP, but I was definitely wrong.  So long as you play with the lights turned down and a good set of headphones, you're in for another great SH game.  The music and ambiance is not lost in transition, with another wonderful sountrack to add to the series and some definitely jumpy, tense moments.

Graphics are the usual scratchy-style, with an additional option to turn this filter off post-completion of the game (which I recommend, since it makes the in-game exploration so much clearer on a small screen).  Gameplay and the utilization of a wide variety of breakable weapons (which Travis has the hindsight to drop automatically after they break!) make it a fun experience and the few cutscenes presented look great, with a story that nicely (though still somewhat vaguely for my liking) tie up many of the loose ends to tie together the main story of the SH saga and the previous games, making it an effective prequel.  The game clocks in at about 5 hours or so if you take your time, my only complaint but not much of a big deal all things considered.

I have this game coming from you, deaddoll00, so I'm looking forward to it.  I'm presuming that it hasn't been mailed off quite yet, eh?  Stick out tongue  Anyhow, glad to hear that it offers an experience that is adequate. The game came out with not much fanfare, and I think that many were disappointed with the 5 hour gameplay mark...but for a portable gamer, that falls in line with reasonable IMHO.

This game is currently in my PSP, but I haven't spent too much time with it yet. The ambiance is through the roof and every ounce of survival horror is intact on the PSP. My only complaint so far is the stuff and clunky combat. I've never played a Silent Hill game before, so I don't know if this is the norm, but currently I'm having problems when facing more than one enemy at a time.

Is there a way to cycle targets? Or a better way to deal with multiple enemeies that I should be doing (currnetly I just run to a new postion and try and take them out one at a time). Its to the point where it makes me not want to play the game as I'm quickly trounced everytime I'm outnumbered.

I'm enjoying everything else but the combat. The settings are creepy, the music is fantastic and I think the game looks pretty damn stellar on the PSP.
