So does anyone here watch the show Deadliest Warrior? It's one of the few shows that I really enjoy, even if some of the results/scenarios annoy me to no end. Tonight's episode was neat, Mafia vs Yakuza, and the end result didn't really surprise me, but the last fight sequence just pissed me off. How can a trained martial expert using the sai lose a fight against a "street thug" with an ice pick? They could at have least has the mafia guy pull a shot gun or something, but an ice pick? Come on...

What do you guys think?

Good TV Series to Watch

So for the past year or so I have been living without cable TV (one giant middle finger for you Comcast)... I survive via a mix of PlayOn on my PS3 (very awesome), Netflix (awesome) and an HD antenna (very, very awesome)... basically, the wife and I have watched most of the TV series that we have been told about, or have seen somethig about that piqued our interest, but I am sure there are shows out there that have been missed... anyone have any suggestions for shows that would be good to catch?

Some shows that we have watched so far, along with my personal ratings... for the purpose of this discussion, all shows are rated 1-10, 10 being Dexter, 1 being America's Next Top Model... feel free to disagree with what a 1 or a 10 warrants...

Dexter (seasons 1-3) : 10 - awesome show, created my man-crush on Michael C Hall... I don't know if the amount of enjoyment I get out of this show should scare me or not...

The Wire (seasons 1-5) : 9.5 - fantastic crime show, and has a nice story arc per season that also turns into a 5 year series theme kind of

Weeds (seasons 1-4) : 7.5 - I enjoy herb as much as the next guy, and Mary-Louise Parker is some nice eye candy... enjoyable show, but a little predictable and unbelieveable sometimes...

Entourage (seasons 1-5) : 8 - good, but the writer's strike clearly damaged the show and there haven't really been new ideas since season 3 or so...

Lost (seasons 1-5) : 8.5 - great mind-f**k of a show, just seems like they are getting to the point of being confusing for the sake of being confusing, and it is clear that a few characters are never going to be more than two dimensional...

Six Feet Under (seasons 1-5) : 9 - great show, great characters, just dragged on a bit at times more than my taste

Carnivale (about 6 episodes in) : 7 - great production values, just hasn't sucked me in all the way or shown anything amazing to make it a great show...

Rome (episodes 1-2) : 4- good production values, but nothing that captured our interest in the first two episodes... I have a feeling that it gets better for some reason...

Always Sunny in Philadelphia (seasons 1-4) 12 : it breaks my brain with how hilarious this show is...

I might think of more later, but its getting late, and I need my beauty rest if I am ever going to compete in Miss Teen Washington...

"Monster" Anime starts tonight on SyFy Channel!

The dark anime, Monster, starts tonight on SyFy channel at 11:00 pm - 12:00 midnite (2 episodes). I haven't seen it before, but am really looking forward to it, as its not available on DVD in the states.

Synopsis:

Kenzou Tenma, a brilliant Japanese brain surgeon working in Germany, saves the life of a small boy who has been shot in the head. Little does he know that doing so would destroy his entire career at the hospital and that his fiancé would leave him. When the hospital director and doctors of the hospital staff are suddenly murdered, he gets a second chance but also renders him as the main suspect to the murders. Life goes on for Tenma as he saves people at the hospital, and he goes back to the joy of being a surgeon again.

Years later, an injured thief gets brought to the hospital. After Tenma saves his life, he finds out that the thief is involved with the rising count of serial murders happening in Germany. Suddenly Tenma is involved in it all when the little boy, who is now a young man, turns up and kills the thief in cold blood right in front of Tenma. Now Tenma must clear his name, find out more about the boy he saved in the past, and reevaluate what the value of life is.

Just wondering if there's any new or old Whovians on Goozex that would be interested in chatting, whether it be on XBOX Live or here/etc.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!

So.....what's everyone's thoughts on how the 2008 X-mas special left things? and your thoughts on Tennant/Davies leaving the show? Now that Mickey is back in the Doctor's universe, maybe we'll see him in a future episode? then theres the issue of if theres never been a human Time Lord, it seemed kinda off that the other version of the doctor (DoctorDonna) could live with only one heart, yet Donna had to have her brain wiped.

Feel free to discuss other Doctor Who matters (and Torchwood/Sarah Jane Adventures) here as well.

Anyone else watch this show? I just finished watching the Season 2 finalie, and man! What a cliffhanger! Apparently Fox hasn't picked up the third season.... yet. I'll be sorely disappointed if they don't. It would be like FireFly all over again!

Pure Pwnage TV series (AKA: Canada is awesome: reason #1819)

I used to really enjoy Pure Pwnage and it's irreverent take on the gaming culture. The web series has been on hiatus for the better part of the last year and recently the cast has announced that they will be making the jump to television in 2010 with the Canadian network Showcase airing 8 new episodes.

Despite the fact I only receive a handful of Canadian stations (being that i'm in NY) i'll certainly need to find a way to check this out come next year. It's just great to see a humble web series become something bigger. Now I just need Red vs. Blue to get picked up as a primetime series and i'll be content.

Anyone else a fan of the web series and/or excited about the upcoming televised season?

HDMI audio

I've got a Samsung PN42B450B1D tv and have been playing around with HDMI. As I understand, it's supposed to carry video and the audio all in the one cable.

I ran one from my cable box to the TV, and the picture comes through, but the audio doesn't. I played around with the settings and everything but couldn't get the sound to work without also running a red/white audio cable.

Next I tried to use HDMI to hook up the 360 to the TV. Same thing, the picture comes through, but no sound. I went into the 360 audio settings and checked them out, there's not even much to play around with.

Does this sound like something's not right about either of my two Monoprice HDMI cables? Is there a setting, or something really simple I've been missing? Maybe it's even related to the TV.

Let me know if there's anything else about what I've done that'd be useful to know. HDMI sounded pretty simple and plain so I'm a little puzzled. Thanks in advance.

Apple TV, Yay or Nay???

Well anyways some of you guys know my disdain for apple and their products, but i might be able to get a real good deal on an Apple TV (not an actual TV, a little box that basically is similar to an ipod but for your TV amazon Link) and was wondering on people who own or have used it opinions on the machine. Right now i got my desktop hooked up to my tv through 1080p but hardly use it. Also how much are the shows season passes and do you get to choose what programs you receive for the multipass and how much is that? What is the quality when compared to other stuff like netflix and such?

Did not find any other threads about it... what the heck guys? This is the best TV show on tv this summer and easily a top 5 show of 2009.

Season 2 is really picking up the pace, not to mention all the hawties, suspense, violence, character development, sex scenes and mystery.

Before this show launched I assumed it would be garbage. The guy producing it was all blowhard style "I dont care about other vampire shows, I don't care about vampire lore, these will be different vamps" and I was expecting something banal like Twightlight.

Instead he basically follows the books and vampire lore, just like he said he wouldn't? And the show is awesome for it. Fangs, blood, betrayal, lust.. all the cool vamp stuff you like plus drug abuse, unprotected sex, dirt, death, vodoo, gay rights, drunk driving.. LIFE
