I went to jury duty for the first time in years this morning; the last time I was told the morning of that I wasn't needed and didn't have to report. They selected 24 of us to be considered for a 6 person jury on a civil case. I didn't get picked, and although most people don't want to get picked, I was actually kind of disappointed. Being on a jury seems like it would be an interesting experience. It seemed like a semi-interesting case too: a now out of business auto dealership versus a customer.

Anybody here ever get picked for jury duty?

Unplug it and plug it back in

So I had bit of a router issue today. I came home from work saw the router light was RED and my modem's "link" light was not lit. First thing I did was reset the modem, thinking if the link light isn't lit it's a modem problem. That didn't work so I unplugged the router and plugged it back in and everything was golden. Turns out for some reason ALL the router settings got reset to default, which has never happened in the 9 years I've had the router but hey whatever, so I had to go in and change some things (UPnP, port forwarding for PNP connections, etc. etc.).

I turn on my PS3 and it's having trouble finding the DNS server. I'm like wha? I spent about 45 minutes manually configuring and changing IP addresses and DNS servers and all this other nonsense before I remembered that I had it hooked into a Hub with my 360 and Wii and the Hub was hooked into the router. So I unplugged the Hub and plugged it back in and everything is golden again with the game systems.

With all the computer knowledge and techniques and settings and configurations and EVERYTHING else, what hell is it about "unplug it and plug it back in" that seems to solve EVERYTHING. I mean all this "sophisticated" technology at our finger tips and something as rudimentary as "unplug it and plug it back in" is still the the thing that seems fix all the problems.

What really ticks me off is that it's also like the last thing I try sometimes. You'd think after all these years it would be the first thing I try but it's not. Guess I'm just so used to computer things being complicated that I forget that sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.

Sorry bout the wall 'o text but this is second time in two weeks I've spent WAY too much time messing with routers just to have "unplug it and plug it back in" be the thing that fixes them. Ok.....NOW I'm gonna go play some games

He had made brownies the other day and offered me one. As I bit down, I felt something in the brownie itself; it felt like a nut! We've been friends for a while, so he knew that I'm allergy to nuts and the chances of my throat closing and me dying are high if I eat a nut. I asked him flat out why he did it. He said it was an honest mistake and apologized. I thought I caught a small smirk on his face as he turned away, so I rushed him. Hitting him low, my tackle forced him into a wall. From there I pinned him hard against the wall and throat punched him twice and said "don't lie to me"! Unfortunately, he is bigger than me and he managed to push me down and got on top of me. He began to fishhook my mouth with his finger, but couldn't get through the tough skin of my inner mouth, plus I bit down hard and he gave that up. As he clawed at my face and eyes, I remembered my judo and thrust my hips upwards, sending him flying into the table. Exhausted, we decided to not fight anymore and got in some call of duty. I made it clear not to put any more nuts in brownies and he reassured me that he wouldn't do that.

So I have borderlands on it's way HOPEFULLY. I can't really tell because dude hasn't confirmed shipping or giving me a Tracking#.

I can tell the guy is using the site because he left 5 Feedbacks yesterday and 1 today! I've sent him 4 PM's saying "Hey did you actually ship this game." According to the Message center he hasn't read one of them yet!! What is going on?!?!!

I guess he can read them through email and it doesn't show as read but still!

I have a feeling in like 3 days he's going to drop a "Can we cancel" on me and I'm giving him a negative.

Can goozex implement maybe a pop up or something to notify of messages? Something that is so in your face that no one can ignore it :) (sorta a joke)

Great Goozex Karma moment

Just thought I'd share a great Goozex Karma moment. If someone wants to make a Dino Buddha that would rock.

Anyways A while ago I requested Killzone 2 Disc Only since I was like 80 millionth in line. When I recieved the game I was super excited to see Full Package!

A week or so ago I recieved Uncharted 2 Full Package even though i requested Disc Only Woo Again.

So yesterday when I finished it I figured I'd list the Full Package as Disc Only and make someone at the bottom of the list happy.

What are the chances out of like 400 people waiting for that game that I get the guy who sent me KZ2 as Full Package. I emailed him and told him of the awesome Karma situation. Anyways I thought it was neat.

So basically I was able to repay the guy who sent me KZ2 months ago! Good stuff

MP3 player recommendations

So the gal wants an MP3 player for Christmas this year, but she's torn on what she wants.

We've narrowed her preferences down to the iPod series, Nano 16GB, Classic 120GB, and Touch 16GB.

She'd like the Nano because the colors are nice, it's great for just having her music on, and it's the cheapest of the three.

She'd like the Classic because she has a considerably large CD/mp3 collection (5000-8000 songs), and it offers more space than the Nano. But it's also quite a bit more expensive.

She'd like the Touch because, even though it's less focused on music, the Wi-Fi capabilities are very handy. She doesn't get WiFi on her phone or anything, so she thinks she might like to try that out.

One of her caveats is that she'd like to be able to use it to listen to her music in her car, probably with an FM transmitter (that's what I use with my 4th Gen original). The FM receiver on the new Nanos is also pretty cool and she'd definitely use that, too.

So, opinions on the best choice? If you know of an alternate MP3-like device that offers the same features as the iPod line, let me know. I know the Zunes were pretty popular for a while, but I don't know how they hold up. My 4th Gen original has lasted since 2003 and only needed a battery replacement and a new HDD (both of which I did myself last year). So to me, that's a pretty solid piece of technology.

I mean, come on! I wake up in the morning and I get to see it for maybe 10 minutes while I drive to work. Then I sit in my cubicle all day and by the time I get to leave, it's already dark and the stars are out!

And it's not like I get to see the sun on weekends. I spend so much time at work, that I have to spend them tucked away in my game room basking in the glow of my TV, if I want to have time to do any gaming!

Who else feels my pain?
