1000 points plus 200 bonus points for trading MW2?

I just noticed when I was adding MW2 to my on hold offers list that trading it not only gives you 1000 points, but also an additional 200 bonus points for a total of 1200. Is this bonus points for trading new releases a new thing or has it always been there and I just never noticed it?

What are some special touches you add to your packages?

I'm wondering what special things you add to your games to give them a special touch. Do you send strategy guides and special gifts? Do you decorate your mailers?

Personally, in my personal message I've started writing dumb haikus about the game. I don't know why I bother, because no one has commented about it (so far), but I know someone some day may like it.

Is your post office as painfully slow as mine?

I hardly ever go to the post office unless I have to. For Goozex, I print out shipping at home and drop it in a mail slot or box. But every once in awhile I have to go and it's just painful.

No matter what time of day it is, even the less busy hours, you are always looking at a 30-45 minute wait, and typically over an hour if it's the busy periods like lunchtime or right before closing. Everybody is unhappy and tired waiting in the line, and it is painfully obvious that the post office workers are making no effort to go any faster or be any more efficient, despite the fact that line is frequently so long it's extending out the front door of the building. They take their time doing things, have side conversations, etc. They let people fill out entire passport applicatino forms and money orders right there at the window, which can be a 15 minute process. It just seems like there's no sense of urgency or incentive to do a good job or be fast or efficient, which I suppose is not uncommon in goverment jobs and institutions.

Is my post office just really really bad, or are your guys' like this too? I don't remember my hometown's post office being so slow, but that was in a small town as opposed to a city.

Elite's Bargain Bin Review: Socom Confrontation

Whats a "Bargain Bin Review? I will be reviewing older nex-gen games, on a Goozex scale. The score is reflected by the game and by its value. Score are based on 1 to 5 Goozeggs and a recommendation. So a game that may have been not so good at its full ratail value may receive a better score based on its overall value/points, and vice versa. Enjoy.

Socom: Confrontation (PS3) 200 Points Release Oct 14 2008 (Also available with Blue Tooth headset as bundle)

Socom, another staple PS2 title to make its way over to the PS3. Some, like Ratchet & Clank, Killzone and Metal Gear Solid made there nex gen debut under good to fantastic reviews. Socom was really not so fortunate, but dont tell that to the hard core Socom fans.

The game launched in 2008 in a state that really felt unfinished and unpolished. The game was missing elements promised or most just didn't work correctly. It took nearly a month and a half to get these issues patched and out to the customers, by that time, its was really too late. The reviews were out and the game was trashed pretty quick.

To be fair, once the game was patched I really quite enjoyed it. In case you didn't know there is no single player game in this installment, instead its multiplayer only. That being said the multiplayer options are very deep and the game modes are abundant.

When the game launched there were many hurdles to be had just to play with friends in the game, they have since added a kind of party mode found in most online multiplayer games, thankfully (that is if you actually have any friends playing this game). Playing online with random people can be rather annoying, It really doesn't have one of the friendliest communities out there. Not unlike the Halo community.

Graphically its hit or miss. Sometimes the environments can look really nice, other times they look downright PS2. Its basically the 3rd person shooter (can be played FPS) and the graphics and animations of the characters are pretty good (the return of the dance and taunt animations are nice). However this time the vehicles have ben removed from the game, which I actually welcome.

There is some significant graphical glitches in the game, screen tearing being the biggest of them, as seen below.

The game actually sounds really nice. If your familiar with the series, the dramatic scores are what your used to and the guns all sound pretty good. On the other hand the explosions are a bit weak.

In closing, if you can get by the games short comings and annoying community, there is some fun to be had with this game. Not to mention there is still a large active community and a large DLC patch on the way that brings a winter wonderland feel to the game. Hopefully it will include some more fixes. For 200 Goozex points you cant really miss out.

Goozex Rating:

Trophy Factor: Forget it! Unless you plan on devoting a lot of time to this and tolerating an overly aggressive community, dont bother.

GOOZEX APP!! BLACKBERRY

hello as some of you know there are a couple of us goozers that are making a app for the blackberry phone. We are almost at the point of passing out a beta test. the 1st beta we will be giving out will be to thoes that have a blackberry tour and the blackberry 8900.

after this beta we will release a version to support more phones. Once you guys provide feedback on the app and we get all the bugs worked out we will be releasing the app to everyone in all models of phones. With the exception of the storm and storm 2. that is when we will release the beta for that model of phone. (sorry guys it needs to be coded again for that phone)

so if you want to to a beta please send me an im with your phone model.

here are some things to keep in mind if you want to test the app..

1. you will have to have a blackberry (duh)

2. you have to be willing to give out your pin. (the beta will only work with your phone.)

3. you have to be willing to provide feedback.

4. you have to be an active trader on goozex.

So thats about it. if you guys have any suggestions please feel free to post them below and i will see what we can do.

8 oz, the usual for shipping 360 games?

i'm figuring the usual weight for a bubble mailer and a standard edition complete 360 game (case, manual & disc) is usually around 8 oz. i've shipped a few games here and on ebay and just use that weight always with no probs so far. halo 3 is probably the heaviest (bigger manual than usual and foldout thingy) i've shipped and it did fine with 8 oz shipping.

just wondering if i'm cutting it too close or if i'm paying for an extra ounce (17 cents).

...does it make you a bastard to want to take that little Canadian flag off your list on your account? I mean, I love Canadians. I've got no problem at all with the country, I just apparently can't....send...anything to Canada....O_o

First time I sent something, it took so long to get there that the user threatened negative feedback until it finally arrived just before the last possible day. Second time, well I just found out the USPS sent it to Goozex as "undeliverable" because it apparently no longer had a customs slip on it. The post office won't let you send something to Canada without a customs slip, so obviously it was on there...but somehow on its way to canada it...disappeared...which is interesting because it was supposedly stuck on there pretty good...

But I mean yeah, the cost isn't the problem....US/Canadian CUSTOMS is the problem...I know a guy in Canada who's been waiting 4 months to recieve a package from a friend in the US, it's clear to me this isn't just a small problem. The weird thing is I haven't had trouble sending and recieving things to and from other countries, just freakin' CANADA. What is the DEAL here?!?

But yeah, I seriously think I'm going to just stop sending things to Canada on here, because the risk for undeserved negative feedback/neutral is too great to take. I gave it a chance, it blew up in my face. Sorry, Canadians -- blame customs.

Asking for TIp

Why did this person asked me for tip when the game was suppose to be sent on Tuesday and was actually sent today (which is 4 days later then the expected date to be shipped). First of all, I think that asking for tip is just making buyer not give you tip. I could give the person neutral for not shipping the game 4 days before but I won't do that because maybe the seller just forgot to click on confirmed shipped button on the day the seller shipped the game.

Have any of you guys got a message like, Please leave me a tip, because it pissed me of.

The "Ninja Edit". Are you guilty of this?

Okay, this may require some explanation. A "ninja edit" is when you post a message, then immediately realize that made some mistake and edit the original post without citing what you changed. The most innocent form of this is simply making changes in your spelling or grammar with the intention of making your post easier to read. The more spurious form of this, is when you post something saying one thing, and then change it to say something else. Either because you don't want people calling you on something you originally wrote, or you're just trying to make yourself look better.

An example would be, say, writing "Waffles are kinda nasty". Upon remembering the socially sensitive nature of the topic and history of waffles, you might realize that people would construe your post of being anti-wafflism in nature. You then hurriedly change your original post to something more benign like: "Waffles are okay I guess." At this point it's quite possible that people have started commenting on your poorly thought out post, and perhaps asking things like, "Buddy, what do you have against waffles?" If no-one bothered to quote the original post, these replies could be misconstrued by others as attacks and generate much confusion and unnecessary drama. This generates misinformation, and is clearly not cool.

Anyways, this is something that's been bouncing around my head recently. Basically just thinking about the social rules and conventions that people use and uphold in virtual communities, and I thought it might make for interesting discussion. I've also included a poll for posterities sake. I'll freely admit right now that I'm guilty of doing the second option on occasion.
