I would like to hear how everybody feels about this movie season.  My favorite movies are the ones that I wasn't even excited for the anticipation for others left me feeling disappointed. Here are the rankings of the movies that I have seen.

1.Transformers

2.Ocean's 13

2a.(edit) Rush Hour 3

3.Spiderman 3

3a. (edit) The Simpson's Movie

4.F4 Rise of the Silver Surfer.

5.Live free or Die Hard

6.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

7.Pirates of the Caribbean:at World's End

Post your own rankings or recommend a movie that I haven't seen.  Or if you want feel free to post arguments to my rankings.

For me, it's #1 because I had really low expectations (dread, actually) and it ended up being a fun action movie that made you want to cheer whenever Prime was on screen. That, and most of the other big sequels (Spider-Man, Pirates) sucked.

To me Transformers set the bar in special effects.  They  are seamless.  From the  transformations to the battles it all looks very very good.  I am not old enough to have been into this as a kid, so I wasn't getting picky about all of the details like some people.  The story is lacking, but the robots feel very human to me.  Oh yeah and when Optimus Prime has got the sword out I almost had to stand up and yell "take that decepticon be-otchis.  This is also a movie about a boy and his car.

I actually enjoyed Spiderman 3, although I can understand anyone who didn't.  It was my favorite of the trilogy, but I loved the first two pirates, but At World's End was a massive letdown.

This has been a disappointing summer for me; I have waited in anticipation for a few movies to come out only to be blown away by how awful they were. May rankings would be:

1. Live free or Die Hard

2. Fractured

3. Mr. Brooks

4. Knocked Up

5. The Ex

6. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

7. Ocean's 13, Spiderman 3 & Pirates of the Caribbean:at World's End

I was really disappointed with Pirates and Spider-man. Oceans I did not expect much after the last one but the ending just did nothing for me. Harry Potter was very slow, it was an OK movie but I expected more. I have yet to see Transformers, but I am looking forward to it. Fantastic 4 I will wait till it hits HBO. The "Big summer blockbusters" have been mostly disappointments, with the exception of Die Hard. The other random movies I’ve seen were better then the “blockbusters”. There are still more movies coming out that may redeem the summer; please be good Simpson’s movie.

I only thought that Die hard was OK, too far fetched for me.(Lady being slammed between SUV and concrete wall and being OK).  but I really thought that   Ocean's 13 was great. I am looking forward to the Simpson's though.

**no spoilers, but enough to warrant spoiler treatment**

I think that I'm the only one that has not like Transformers.  Yes, the special effects were great...but story was a stinker.  I hated the obvious and obnoxious product placement.  It was bad as watching a Nascar race.  Good gawd, Michael Bay could have at least made it a bit more subtle.  How much did Ebay pay for all of the plugs that it got?  Argh.  Back to the story, yes the actors were great...but I want a Transformers movie to be about Transformers...not about a boy and his car.  The Transformers should be the story, and the movie should have revolved around them. I just thought that it was incredibly shallow, even for an action movie....

Hey Mr. Naysayer, the only thing that I have ever heard you be positive is that someday this website will fix all of it's problems, so I expect you to like anything at all.

I've only seen two:

- Harry Potter

- Transformers

Transformers was a brainless action flick, but I knew that going in so my boys and I had a blast.  I have no desire to see it again because there is no 'hidden depth'.

Harry Potter was good but a bit disappointing in terms of how much they had to cut out - but I think they made the right choices.  I love the characters, though.

Oh - and we all dressed up as Wizards when we went to the movie and then headed to Barnes and Noble for the book release festivities Smile

Warning Minor Spoiler.

There are many different plots and sub-plots through haryy potter and they skipped my favorite one.  The forget to mention that it is Snape that goes and alerts the Order, but I admit that is pretty picky.  I also wish the duel at the end would have been longer.  It would have been sweet to see Dumbeldore have to duel Harry out of self defense when he is possessed.

txa have you finihed the book yet?s

No - since we started reading the books aloud to our kids when they were little it has become a tradition.  Despite the fact that both kids could probably finish it in a day or two, I'll be reading it aloud, meaning that it will take ~ 3 weeks.

I think that the real magic of the Harry Potter books is that people are reading again.  I think that it is absolutely awesome.  My mind will be absolutely bent on all the suspense until I can get through it.

Live Free or Die Hard was so amazingly stupid & fun. A perfect summer movie.

I'm going to see The Simpsons tomorrow & will report back on that.
