Look at it this way - if it were easy and cheap, don't you think they - as gamers themselves - would have done it?

and txa ends the discussion with cold hard logic.

Yes, good point txa1265.

However, I'd like to counter with some devils advocate-type logic...

From what I've gathered over the 12 million posts on this topic, the 3 main reasons for not adding N64 games are as follows:

1.) Older cartridge games have batteries that can die, and have pin connectors which collect dust and get dirty.  This means that it would add a big hassle to the G-Team since they guarantee all of their games ans there is a greater risk of them not working (but not as huge as a lot of people make it out to be).

2.)
There is no database available on MUZE for adding N64 games, therefore, the 3-man G-Team (3G's) would have to add them all themselves manually.

3.) The point values.  These would also have to be manually assigned by the 3G's and how would they determine the correct point value for the games?

In response to point #1:

A potential solution to this would be to simply add a disclaimer noting that all battery-save (non-flash memory such as DS and I think GBA) games are NOT guaranteed.  This disclaimer would then go on to state the reasons why.  If the G-Team doesn't want to do this because then they can't claim that ALL of their games are guaranteed, then they could simply have a brother site called "Retro Goozex" (or whatever) with all the rules being the same except the guarantee.  This way they can still make their "all games guaranteed" claim.

In my personal experience I have yet to have an older game's battery die on me and I own approximately 1500 cartridge games.  The only problems I've ever had were either bad/dirty systems or dirty connectors on games which are EASILY cleaned in a matter of seconds and then they play perfect.  So you would think that they could even still guarantee them and just stress for people to clean them before leaving feedback.  And if they send the game back to Goozex and all they have to do is run a q-tip along the pin connectors and it works, then too bad for the buyer.

This still means a little bit more work and system resources, however, if the demand is there then perhaps considering adding another team member or 2, wouldn't be a bad thing.  That would obviously be something they'd have to figure out.  Goozex isn't perfect, we all know that and there is almost always room for improvement and expansion in any business if you play your cards right.

In response to point #2:

There are other methods of obtaining game databases. Free ones too (wikipedia etc.).  How they integrate it to cooperate with the existing MUZE database would be something they'd have to figure out as I have no idea how the back end of this site runs.  However, if they have a brother site, they wouldn't have to make them cooperate.  And once all the game are added, their work is done since there aren't any new games coming out for N64 or other older systems.

As for adding them all in and the time it takes, this could be something that is done slowly over time or by volunteers or even hiring a new employee at minimum wage (or even a family member at less than minimum wage!) to add them in.  If it mean more people coming to the site and buying trade credits and even points (which I don't recommend)... then it's worth it.  Plus the more people that come to the site, the more attractive goozex becomes for advertisers, which also means more money.

In response to point #3:

Very simple. While one of the G-Teams 14 year old nephews is entering the games into the database for $2 an hour, they can grab one of several free databases off the internet that list a games price value and enter the point values accordingly.  Even if they make a few mistakes, that's what this thread is for!  We all know the point system on the current games is far from perfect, but that's what makes this site more exciting (for me at least) is the fact that you can get a deal on a game because of an improper value, or you can trade games away for more than what they are worth in some cases as well.

Even going on amazon.com or half.com and looking at the average price for their games is easy enough if all else fails.

In conclusion to this essay this has seemingly turned into... I agree it's more work and the G-Team has probably already weighed the pro's and con's and made their determination that it's not worth it.  However, I think that  perhaps over time this should be something they reconsider instead of having it set in stone that it's not an option because things change and shift happens (at 5 minutes and 1 second of this video (5:01), it has a cool statistic about Nintendo)!

So, all in all I would like to see older games traded here, but it's been thought of before (and it is funny when people act as though they are the first to suggest this) so we'll just have to wait and cross our fingers that maybe it will be of benefit in the future for Goozex to take this on, although I don't think that will be the case for quite some time.

As for the volunteering, sign me up.  Or even offer people 1 goozex point for every game they add!  This wouldn't help point inflation, but that issue is something the G-Team has said they are continually working on combating, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue!

Thanks for those who stuck with this wall of text and read it all! Sorry to those who don't like WOT's and this hurts their eyes! As my spanish friend would say "have enjoy"!

I'd be willing to devote some work to get a n64 database added to MUZE.

as long as Superman dosent get added, I'd hate to see anyone get suckered into getting that game.....
