I picked this game up after playing the demo and trying it out a couple other places.  I think that  the  game is a whole lot of fun and the gaming elements that it combines are all used really well.  I think that the puzzles have all been really good and I have only  gotten stuck once. I see there are a whole lot of requests,  but no offers, so maybe no one else has played it.  I recommend it, but this game is too long to rent,  so I would recommend trading for it or buying it.  Mine will be on the market soon, so stick in there.

I just got this in a trade a few days ago.  Fun game, but I'll definatly be trading it away when I'm done, don't see a lot of replay.

there is not a huge amount of re playability, however  there are some  chances  to  make decisions that  might  change  the  game  so  I think that I might replay the  game and be evil.  I guess I should think about finishing the first time thruogh.

I was expecting silly antics throughout the game, with lots of comedy and satire, like Dungeon Keeper and DK2 did.  The game is in the same spirit as Peter Molyneux's original games where we finally had the chance to be 'evil' instead of justly heroes.

I am really enjoying the game and here's why . . .

The Graphics are fantastic, with sharp textures and variation in colors that make each location you visit more different from the next.  The game isn't dark, except when in some dungeons, but its got a nice feel of evilness without pulling you into any direction you may not wish to go.  See, you don't have to be truely evil.  As the Overlord, you can do good deeds to further your rather chaotic goals.  I've been playing the game this way, trying not to harm innocents and doing things "by the book" and its fun, but I am going to play the game again, this time being truely sadistic and utterly evil.  The graphics in the game do not disappoint, and actually help to make the game more fun.

Sound is very good, but I have a hard time hearing the background music, even after boosting the volume of the music in options.  An important thing about sound is being able to hear your minions.  When you can't see them, which will be often, you can hear them and from their cries, screaming, and sometimes gurgling, you know what kind of danger they are getting themselves into.  Voice acting is OK, but there are alot of repetitive voices.  Some are a little too stupid.

Gameplay is great except for one main thing, which if you read anything about Overlord you already know . . . there is NO Map.  Why?  There are many areas to explore and some incredibly frustrating gaunlet-like dungeons to navigate, all from memory.  A map would have boosted the score I give the game a whole point or 2.  The game is easyto learn for the most part, but can take some time to master the different strengths and weaknesses of your minions, and to get a handle on the different types of puzzles.

Otherwise, romping through villages, dungeons, castles, etc. with your little minions is a blast.  The missions are fun and sometimes require a bit of thinking.  Puzzles can be silly but some are also clever.  The action is fast and you can play the game going full speed ahead, but strategy and planning might be the easier way to go, as each of your 4 classes of minions have their own specialties and can more advantageous if used to their strengths.

I would have liked to see more RPG aspects to the game.  You do increase your health, power, and can craft armor, weapons, and upgrade items, but maybe a leveling system and more attributes, even some specialy abilities (other than the spells you find and learn) would have made the game more interesting and more replayable.

Overlord is a better game than I expected, mostly because it has just the right balance of humor and seriousness, and because the way minions are handled, with their special strengths and weaknesses, added a strategic element to the game that I didn't think would exist.

I agree with elessar, there isn't much in the way of replayability, except to play more evil or try to be very lawful.  Other than that, missions and storyline will remain exactly the same.  I'll likely put mine up for trade when I've completed it.

Hey can someone help me find the last spell. I am missing the one that goes along with slow and confusion.  I also might be missing other stuff, but this is the one that I know I am missing.

Thanks for posting this here.  Unfortunately, I think I might have triggered the bug already.  I haven't played the game in a while so I can't really remember, but I know that I got stuck somewhere, and it just may be the Brewery.  Good game, though.  I wouldn't mind starting over, anyway, only this time I will REALLY be evil!

Yeah, that bug is pretty nasty.  The other one that was annoying was the second request to "rock the tower" as well as some of the minions getting stuck in walls and whatnot.  All in all though, this was an awesome game.  I am keeping mine as I love the whole concept and if I want to kick a jester around for a few moments, I will do so with a great smile on my face!

I'm just a couple of hours into this game and I have a feeling I'm going to be having a lot of fun with this. If you are interested in this game, you may want to try Ebay, I picked it up for $12.50, a lot better deal than the 850 points its going for right now.

Anyway, the gameplay is great. I've never played anything like this before. I haven't missed that there isn't a map (yet) but I do miss not being able to rotate the camera angle, I find that issue quite annoying. I love controlling the minions and having them wreak havok all over the place. I see in the instruction manual that there is 2 paths to go, Corrupt and Uncorrupt, thats nice and can add replay value if I really get into the game.
