Im a huge online multiplayer fan and lets face it, the PS3 lacks really good ones. Warhawk is a complete ripoff of Battlefront and Crimson Skies and every other game aside from Resistance has been done elsewhere and done better.
Unreal III brings something fresh to the PS3. Its INSANE!!! From the graphics to the controlls to the knuckle whitening gameplay.
I finally got it home yesterday, with my PS3 crying to get some gaming love sitting idle next to its 360/Wii competitors that get used ALOT more. So I blew the dust off the console with my can of Dust Off, unplugged my freshly charged controller, put on my blue tooth headset (after having to pair it two more times), grabbed a cup of coffee, plopped my butt down in my reclyner and jumped right into a match called "Warfare".
The first thing I noticed was I connected and join a room instantly, not something that happens for me often on the PS3. the second thing I noticed was OMG the graphics were insane. I was on a map that looked like a base on an exotic tropical island (like something out of Farcry), It was a neat looking map, then I noticed a doorway that looked like a portal, So I walked through it and ZZZip, Im not in a frozen waste land of a base covered in slow and large metal structures.
After traversing the snowy map I came to yet another door/portal, and said to myself, "well this must lead me back to the tropical island area of the map", Wrong!, I walked through and lead to yest another different area that resembled something out of Cloud City in Empire Strikes Back. Complete with many different man connons and air lifts. I was completely flabergasted at the variety and size of this one single map. Unbelieveable. All the while gorgeous colors, textures, lighting, shading, you name it. the game is simply a feast for the eyes.
Anyway, back to the game mode "Warzone". Each team (Blue vs Red) has a base node complete with its Core. The Core serves as the teams lifeline, when its destroyed, you lose! here are also a string of neatral node points that each team trys to capture. the need to be captured in order and strungf together making a line of captured nodes leading to the enemy's Core, which can then be destroyed. Therer are other aspects of the game involved here but you get the gist of it.
The single player campaign is simply a the same as the multiplayer on with bots. There is supposedly some kind of story attached to it, but does it really matter?
Alot of new things are brought to the workd of Unreal and the most impressive is in fact the vehicles. There are alot of them and come in a variety. From vehicles that fly (some resemble the sentinals from the Matrix), Jeeps, gliders, hover crafts, enormous tanks of various styles. The coolest is the most convenient way to cross the map, and thats the hover board. Yeah, you heard me, a hover board. The coolest thing about it is thats its part of your loadout. Simply press the square button and out pops your hover boards. It exactly what it sounds like. A gliding snow board to help you get across some of these huge maps.
The game is the most fun Ive had on the PS3 yet. If you own the PS3 you owe it to yourself and your PS3 to at least rent this game. See you on the battelfield.
Thanks for the review. I've added it to my request list.
Goozex Forum Moderator I'm Playing: WoW: WotLK
The first PS3 game in which I couldnt wait to get home to play!!!!
I've had it on my request list but "On Hold". I just activated it for trade, since I am completely fed up with CoD4, and just about every other shooter I have for my consoles
. Please tell me that mouse and keyboard are supported on the PS3, because on my PC, I can #$*! shit up. On a console with these stupid controllers I'm nothin but a target.

Excellent, thanks. I'm looking forward to getting it and catching up with you on PSN.

I see. Well I do have a mic although I rarely use it, since I play late at night when the wife and kid are asleep, not far away from my PS3 and HDTV. On my PC down in the finished basement I can make as much noise as I want, but on the PS3 I wear headphones and cannot communicate in-game, so the in-game chat isn't much of a concern right now (until I move my set up downstairs).
I know that in some games, communication is key and can really make the game more fun. Most games I can into, however, aren't really coordinated and there isn't much chatter. It really comes into play when in a clan, I think.
Anyway, I'm sure that the problem will be fixed in time.
I usually do where a head set, but in the 50 some odd games of Unreal 3 Ive played (they tend to be very long matches), Ive only heard voices in a handfull of them.
Does the game have built-in communcations, like basic commands and replies (Enemy Spotted, Taking Enemgy Flag, Defending Base, etc.)?
Also, is there need to alot of teamwork in the various types of games? Capture the Flag has always been my favorite in UT, and I always liked voice-comm in these types of games. It would be a shame if this wasn't fixed, but it certainly won't stop me from trading for it.

There are alot of team work based games, all of which have been slightly hampered by the head set issues. Apparently they are working on fixing those problems.
YES!!! this game is finally being sent to me. I can not wait, especially since im a little tired of call of duty 4.
