It's just like the Acadamey Awards imo... it's all politics  (or advertising/PR as txa implied).

GOTY is pretty much subjective hogwash.  I mean, I know what my personal GOTY would be, but hell if that means it would be anyone elses... actually, frack, it was such a great year to be a gamer, I DON'T know which game I'd choose as GOTY...

Despite liking Bioshock for game of the year, I actually thought that the Halo 3 score was better. (I'm gunna catch crap).  I think it was the best part of the otherwise painful to play campaign.

I agree that this is a good year to be a gamer across all platforms. I've came across some polls for gaming awards.

On Gamespot you can navigate through a bunch of different categories to vote and on 1up's, all the categories are on one page. Great way to hear the voice of the gamers instead having us told what we like (VGAs).

surprisingly...

I DISAGREED with just about everthing they picked.

Plus it seemed like the show was mainly about T&A, pop or really commercial music artists and sports games.

The entire awards show sucked to me.  The British version, The Golden Joysticks  was FAR closer to reality
