 Hello All

I just wanted to let any fellow Fallout fans know that there is a new article in one of the latest

"Games for Windows" magazines.

It is the one that list the Top 10 PC games of 2008, and Fallout 3 is in that list !!!!!!

It has some interesting screen shots, and a brief article describing the progress Bethesda

is making on getting the game out this year.

Sounds like they are still getting some serious resistance from the extremely hard-core fans,

but this fan is willing to give Bethesda a chance, and I personally like what I have been hearing

and seeing.

But anyways, if you are a fan of the games, you should pick up this magazine, it's good stuff !!

Given that Bethesda is responsible for one of the most over-hyped games of all time and has systematically dumbed-down their primary game from a RPG to a console action game, it is hard to be enthusiastic about what they will do to a beloved hardcore RPG.

The Fallout series was never that hardcore, but no less amazing for that.  The first game especially was a total breeze; the second one was much more challenging but the gameplay was still not particularly complicated.

Bethesda has ditched the leveled mobs approach Oblivion had, as I understand it, which is great.  They absolutely have the atmosphere nailed, and what from I've read they've got a good start with player choice in tackling quests and scenarios.  I'm skeptical about whether or not they'll let most quests be solvable through diplomacy - Black Isle's great achievement - but if they fail in that regard I'll forgive them.  If i'm right on all of this and the writing is strong, I think they'll nail it.

Oblivion was, in a way, a step back for Bethesda, but Morrowind was at least as hardcore as either of the Fallouts; probably much more so.  I have cautious faith in them.

I read an article about fallout 3 in Gameinformer magazine. It sounds really good. Although i'm not a hardcore fallout fan like you i still support the making of the new fallout 3.

I might be critical of Bethsoft and their approach to Fallout 3, but I did already pre-order my copy on the 'real' platform ...

The Fallout games are my favorites. The chain of events leading up to Bethesda gaining the rights while Troika went bankrupt was pretty gut-wrenching for me. Of Bethesda's library, I have only played Morrowind and Oblivion, and found them incredibly lacking. That is not to say that I'm convinced they will screw up Fallout 3, I do remain hopeful and I am behind their efforts. I spent quite a bit of time chatting with the developers on their forums way back when the game was first announced. Some of those guys definitely have my vote, some of them fill me with worry. Let's just hope the people in charge know which is which.

I do wish they would get rid of that screenshot showing the super-mutant with the hit boxes on all of his body parts. Please tell us that one is a joke. Please? Oh, and then reveal what super-mutants will ACTUALLY look like. (not orcs)
