So I played Spider-man 3 and honestly for $60 bucks it just wasn't good enough. This isn't a Spider-man3 review, but it is the only movie to game adaptation that I have played on the 360.  I love to rent games when I love the movie.  I actually did rent F4 ROTSS and it was OK.  I have been wanting to try the Pirates of the Carribean and the Transformers games.  So what new movie to game adaptations are your favorites?  Are there any actually worth buying.  What are the ones to avoid?

As far as I know, they all suck!

I never buy games based on current movies. They are made with the intentions of cashing in on a fad and not so much with quality gaming. With the exception of GoldenEye (N64), no movie based games are worth remembering.

I can't think of a single 'great' one, but have played some 'decent' ones based on movies.  Most are mediocre to poor, though.

Eragon for the GBA and DS were a surprise by being different from the blah PC / console / PSP version and each taking their own path.  (review

I can't remember anything in particular, but I remember truly enjoying some of the movie adaptation during the SNES-Genesis war.  Most of the titles that I enjoyed, I preferred the Genny versions.  Now that I am typing away, I'm remembering Aladdin and some Batman game as being good, if not very time-consuming of my time.  I cannot think of anything more recent as being anything remotely good.

I think that much of the problem is that it takes so long to tie up the licensing and rights for a game, and then by then, the actual movie production is nearing completion...so games are pressured to be released much sooner than they feasibly can or should be.  It by default cannot be a good game.

I'll echo what the other posters have said: there really haven't been any outstanding adaptations. Similarly, the only game-to-movie adaptation I can remember as being good is the original Mortal Kombat. Don't get me started on the abomination that was the sequel.

Remember that vid-cap garbage that was Super Street Fighter: The Movie on the Sega Saturn.  I really tried to convince myself that that game was good because of how much it cost at the time.

But the best game that was a faux movie adaptation would have to be Slaughterhouse on the TG-16..after Friday the 13th Movies.  I love that game.  Is it on VC?  I might just have to get that one then.

OK so I only have a 360 so that is why i posted this thread in this forum, however I do have to give a shout out to one game that was mentioned.  007 Goldeneye is the father of all first person  shooter.  In my opinion the people at bungie owe the people at rare who created this game their livelyhoods.  The fact that it is based on the best movie franchise of all time is even better.  (When I say best I mean it has made the most money over its lifetime.)

I actually really enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia game. Good use of the movie scenes, and fun to play, easy to pick up.

I thought it was mediocre - but I played PC version.  I co-wrote a review with momGamer (also writes at GamersWithJobs) here.

Correction: Wolfenstein 3D is the father of all FPS games. GoldenEye is the first good FPS on a console.

Um ... you do know that Bungie made a set of FPS that were much better than Halo (and *far* better than GoldenEye) well before either, right?  Called Marathon.  Check it out.  Be careful of history when surrounded by fogies Wink

Us console folk almost exclusively think of our console only universe..and that is why Golden Eye/Perfect Dark are so revered.

I have to put my vote in for the older arcade adaptations of movies. The old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was awesome. I also agree that Aladdin was a good Movie adaptation. Generally I don' bother with recent adaptation because of how bad they typically are.

I checked out Marathon on Wiki; I consider myself an old-school gamer, but was not fimilar with it. It turns out it was Mac's answer to DOOM. It was eventually ported over to the PC (my perfered gaming platform) and got lost in the barage of early FPS games at the time. txa1265, do you know if the Mac version works on OSX? I might have to check it out if it's as good as you say.

The best one I have played was far from perfect and a bit glitchy, but amzingly addictive: Pirates of the Carribean, the original game for the x-box. I think it was such a good game because it was supposed to be called "Sea Dogs 2" (I think it was #2) and written independently from the movie, but got bought out to quickly be put on the shelves and sold alongside the movie. I assume that is why it was so glitchy too.
