Well I thought I was a collector for quite some time but it turns out I’m not really a collector at all; I was a gaming pack rat. I held onto almost every game I ever had. I am still mad I sold my Genesis + Sega CD back in the day. Then I stumbled onto Goozex and after a month and change I had every game I owned listed with the exception of a few that I will be playing for some time and my wife would kill me if I listed her GBA or DS Mario games. Goozex cured me of the pack rat bug. I may become a collector once I finish school and have funds available for buying old systems and games but for now I want to stretch my game dollars as far as I can.
Also, a bit off topic but Goomba you’re from CT too, it’s nice to see the Goozex community growing in our area too. If we get enough people from this neck of the woods to join maybe Mark, Jon, and the rest of the G-team will head up here. Or they could put that money pit of a convention center to use and get a gaming or electronics expo here.
So, that turned into a mini rant, I had to force myself to stop.
Thanks for doing another giveaway and getting some good conversations going.

I would love to see an annual Goozex expo. I would definitely make the trip.

and in many ways I still am (I basically require my collection to be complete and in near-mint/like new condition and trade or give away games that aren't meeting my high standards) but now I'm coming to the realization that I don't play my games enough when I obsess over merely collecting them like they were baseball cards or something.Yes, it's great to see other people from Connecticut and the area on here. A lot of sites always talk about the great scenes in DC/Florida/California/Washington/Etc. but you hardly ever hear of CT communities. I really think it'd be AWESOME if Mark/Jon and the rest of Goozex were to visit up here sometime. I doubt a convention is anytime soon, but I'd love for a meet up somewhere even if it was just a small one to get to meet everyone in person. If nothing comes to fruition, maybe I could help plan something. Sounds like fun to me :)
I collect video games in the sense that I get them, play them, and finish with them, though I used to collect them, but it built up clutter, so why not sell them why they still had value?
I collect video games to play and then resell, simple as that.
most i play and resell or trade, multiplayer i keep to play and i keep all star wars games to collect!!! and rainbow 6
Since I became a member of Goozex, I have been trading off every game I am done playing. It seems pointless to keep game that I am unlikely to ever play again. I used to keep games just because I knew trading them in was a bad deal, meanwhile they lost all value.
Heh, I'm a bit late this week. If you've already printed out names, it's no biggie, I'm not too interested in winning. It's just an interesting topic. I personally don't collect games for the sake of owning them. If I get a game, it's because I have an interest in it. I USUALLY get to play all the games I get, even if it takes me awhile. However, there are some games I hold on to because I like the game so much, or due to nostalgia.
For instance, I don't know if I'll ever go back to Tales of Symphonia, but I love the game so much I'm not going to get rid of it. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is much the same way, I love the game so much, and it's a classic, so I want to own it. (And no, the remake isn't the classic, but my brother sold our PS1 set... sold a lot of our PS1 games, actually, and not all of them were his...).
Sonic Mega Collection is nostalgia- my fondest "childhood gaming" memories were with Sonic, and I still go back to experience those games I played awhile ago. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is probably in my Top 10 games list.
Lastly, if a game is VERY hard to get, and there's a chance I'll want to go back to it, like my Ouendan games, I most likely won't go back to it.
So for the most part, no, I'm not a collector, I just hold onto a few games.
All entrants have been marked and the winner will be announced sometime soon on Monday. New contest will be up within the next couple of days too. Good luck to all that entered! Keep your eyes peeled ^_^As for your comments ShadowMaster, you actually made it by the deadline. I actually feel almost EXACTLY the way you do...I have many games that I more than likely will not replay through (Original Metroid Prime for example) but I like them a lot and feel a need to have them as part of a permanent collection. Funny story (true one too) about MGS: The Twin Snakes...I asked my Gamestop if they had a copy and they told me outright "Metal Gear was never on the Gamecube. End of story". I went on to explain how the team behind Eternal Darkness had remade the original and tied in control schemes from MGS2 and upgraded the graphics and such and they simply didn't believe me. It wasn't until they actually went to look in the system (to "prove me wrong") that they said "Well I'll be...okay it's sad that our customers know more about our games than we do" haha. I loved that. I never did find a copy though. Maybe I"ll have to add that to my Goozex list now ^_^I do have the Ouendan game (first one) and I"m eagerly awaiting the sequel. I won't let myself buy it though until I can get all A's on all difficulties...gosh is that game hard!Great responses everyone, they mean a lot to me. These contests are worth their cost just for your answers alone to my feeble questions :)
I am wondering when you will post the winner along with the youtube video. Well I am more interested in the video because I want to see the Prize Pig again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLG1cjgbujUThe prize pig would like to contratulate the winner :) New prize coming in the next few days ^_^=JJ=
You know you have a problem when you're spending hours of your week devoted to giving away free stuff when you could in fact be playing games that are literally piling up in your house LOL. Oh well ^_^ I have fun and obviously a lot of the entrants do too so I will continue to do so. This week there are 10 prizes to choose from, winner gets choice. Check it out in the contest forum section or on CAG. Good luck guys!
