Hey, everybody.
EA seems to be looking for a reason to throw a one-time use code with "bonus" content into every one of their new releases. The general theory is that this is to discourage reselling or trading of the game.
I am interested in picking up a Collector's Edition of Madden 2009, and I may want to spend a few bucks to get it used. Does Madden come with one of these annoying one-time use codes?
Thanks!
Every time someone suggests the trading of older games, movies, books, CDs, or sandwiches, R2K kills a baby dinosaur.
CheapyD just had a discussion about this on the latest CAGCast. By the sounds if it that is the way things are going. Gears 2, Rock Band 2, Civ: Rev, NBA 2K9 and a bunch of others.
I don't know how Goozex wants to rule on this. Is it part of the game or is it bonus content?
There's already a discussion about this in Help & Support.
I'm just wondering if Madden 2009 Collector's Edition includes such a code. So far, it doesn't look like it.
My personal opinion is that the codes are irrelevant for trading unless they're actually required to play, a la CD keys. They're intended as a reward for the first-time buyer, and it's not reasonable to expect all Goozex traders to not use them to keep the trading eligibility intact. Most of the bonuses are fairly trivial, anyway.

That's exactly how I feel on the subject.
