I read what it said in the help guide, but for the life of me, they still seem to be the same thing. If I can use credits, why do I need points and vice versa?

Points are the currency traded.

Trade credits:  Think of trade credits as a tax or fee to use the system.  You must buy these (or alternatively, you can refer an active* user to receive one trade credit).  This is how goozex makes its profit.

Whenever you receive a game, you pay points to the buyer, and a trade credit to goozex.  As a seller, you only receive points (remember, the trade credit from the buyer went to goozex)
