I noticed Goozex actually has a listing for FFVII for the PC released by Eidos in 1998.  The problem is, it's a Windows 98 game.  I know it's not easily compatible with Windows XP AND it was extremely buggy when released, in the first place.  I can send along the best unofficial patch available to have it run somewhat stable on Windows XP, but I'm not sure if it'll ever be playable on Vista.

I'd rather not get bad feedback for "unplayable," but I also know it's a great game when it works.  Any tips?

pm the user and let them know of the game's compatibility problems and im sure you can set stuff to run in compatibility mode to win. 98, but it still might be buggy or need other compatibility features checked like 256 color mode and such.

if he does leave negative for unplayable, then e-mail feedback@goozex.com and tell them of the situation as clearly as you can including all details and that you want to contest the feedback. the buyer would then need to send the game in to see if it worked and the g-team should be able to run it unless it truly doesn't due to scratches or buggs on the disk.

IMO, PC games are a case of buyer beware.  If the person is requesting the game, they should be aware of how they must run the game.  Anything you do on top of it to notify a user, is just gravy.  From what i know, the vast majority of negative feedbacks left in situations like this have been overturned.

Goozex should put a message on the pages for all PC games stating something to this effect.  Considering that most games in the last several years install the entire game to the Hard Drive and only use the disc for validation purposes. If you're having trouble running a game it's likely your computer at fault.  Older than that and you start hitting compatibility issues. If you're going that far back you should know about compability mode.

Agreed, but some people's hamster wheels are just not turning.

Definitely agree - I started a thread for Mac games, but PC games - especially in the Win 95 / 98 era - were even more tricky.  The general policy is that you are responsible for having the system capable of running the game.

Thanks for the advice guys (and gals, if present).  I'll probably try installing it on an XP machine at home before posting it to make sure it'll install correctly, if not actually play well.  I even dug out the original packaging, albeit no manual, to toss in the mail along with the discs.
