MVP Leagues are 8-player mini-leagues that are similiar to MVP nights, only they take place over a period of weeks instead of hours.

This thread is for signups for Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii.

If you want to play, all you need to do it reply in this thread (provide your Brawl Friend Code) and let me know that you want in on the next league. Once we get 8 signups, those 8 players will be put into a league. Signups will continue and a new league will form every time we have 8 new signups.

Rules addendum concerning leagues where a winner has been mathematically determined (i.e. one person is 7-0) but not all the matches have been completed

• If you've played all your matches, you are done. You may sign up to join another league (first to sign up, first to be in the league). somewan is going to be managing thie signups in the original thread as well.
• Anyone who hasn't completed their matches yet has two options: One is to get your matches in asap and then you will be done and can sign up for another league. The other is to wait one week from the day that the winner of the league was determined (i.e. the day that Kirby finished his last match and was mathematically the winner) and at that point this league is finished and you may sign up for another one.
• Note: This will only apply to leagues where the winner has been determined mathematically. If you are done with all your matches but the league does not have a winner yet, you mat not join another league.

The rules are simple:

• Each player in the league will play each other player once. When you play is up to you to coordinate with your opponents. All games must be completed and the results reported by the league's End Date (leagues will last approximately a month each).
  
• The player with the best overall record at the end of the league will be crowned the Champion and awarded 200 Goozex Points.
• You may only be in one league per game at a time. Once your current league ends, you may join another league for the same game.
• PLEASE play the games you sign up for. If you regularly fail to complete the games for the leagues you sign up for, you will be barred from joining any future leagues. Of course, if there is a valid reason why you can't finish your games, please let me know

NOTE: If you do not yet have the game, please wait to sign up until you receive it. Leagues will continue to start up as people sign up, so you will still be able to get into a league once you actually have the game.

ALSO NOTE: Please post your Friend Code for Brawl when you sign up. You will not be added to a league until you provide your code.

Awesome! Thanks so much for doing this, I can never make the brawl tournaments, but now I have a chance for brawl fun with a 200 point prize. :D

Rules may be slightly different but it won't be anything drastic. I'm going to have to look at what other "leagues" use.

Cool, I was just thinking that it'd be cool to have some kind of Brawl "season" with winners based on Win/Lose records.

P.S. Just an idea, if matches are kept to 3 minutes (or is it 2?), they can be recorded and shown off to the other players. So if some kind of best of 3 or 5 recordable matches were used, people not fighting could still "spectate".

I'm definitely up for this.

And if you're wandering about standard brawl tourney rules, its:

• 3 Stock

• 8 minute timer

• Items are set to "off" and "none"

• All sets with the possible exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above is recommended for any "finals" matches)

• In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors

• No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

• In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.

• If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

• Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.

• If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.

• You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.

• Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

• Stalling is banned.

Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

 Omg! I'm 8th! Reserve the last spot for mercsrevenge, my code is 1332-7536-1104. This sounds like so much fun, great idea!

 Of course there's one slight problem. Okay mabye major. As some of you already know, my wii is broken, and i sent it to nintendo on Thursday. Nintendo says the repair process would take 7 buissiness days, but im not counting on it arriving when they say. I don't want to delay anyone, so i'll gladly be in the next league if i have to.

Edit: Looks like I mis counted. I'm actually 9th. damn. Looks like im waiting for the next league anyway.

As the plan seems to be to have more than one league, why not create an East and West league.

Then you can have East and West winners and then an overall winner.

Could also work out better with scheduling times for the matches.

Just a thought.
