Ok, I bought this game Day 1, but could never finish it. It wasn't the difficulty, it was my unnatural fear of zombies and overload of empathy that I wanted to save everyone. It was also the annoyance of freaking Otis calling me constantly while I was fighting bosses and such.
I just decided to sit down and finish it. So, after restarting the game as a level 26 reporter, I whomped my way through and tried to enjoy the silliness of it. I finished last night with the A ending and finished overtime mode. I didn't try to save everyone... heck, I only brought 5 people back to the security room because it was convienent at the time.
Woot.
I got that the day I got my 360 last year, Few days later I got Kameo and Perfect Dark 0 and I never picked this up again. I have no problem with hard games, but Dead Rising was just plain ridiculous most of the time.
Imagine trying to rescue 50 survivors in one game. One of the achievements is that. Even worse? I think there's only a max of 52 or 51 survivors you can rescue in one game, depending on if you do all of the cases or only enough to get enough survivors.
Also, it might seem boring, but I recommend starting up a new game, and getting the 53 thousand something kills achievement. Find a path in the matinence tunnels that leads to the van, then to the white car, and back outside to the red car and repeat it until you've got enough kills, then head to the helipad and wait for time to expire. The Real Mega Buster will be the reward, which can take out about everything with one shot. Psychopaths, a couple shots.
Takes forever, but it's so worth it.
EDIT: Oh, and before I forget, did you grab the small chainsaw and triple book it? It's an excellent weapon with an easy way to clear out zombies, and triple booking it makes it last for over 1000 or 2000 hits. I can't remember the exact amount. You need the Engineering and Entertainment books from Bachman's in Paradise Plaza, and Criminal Biography from Sir Books A Lot in Wonderland plaza.
I had been working to get the real mega buster in the last game I had played, I was up to 25,000 zombies run over before I stopped playing it.
I don't think I'm going to try to complete it. Neither do I have the inclination to finish saving everyone. I tried a few times in previous go's at the game, but I am seriously creeped out by zombies that I am still feeling uneasy about it expecting to look out a window and see one drooling on it. (and I finished the game Saturday!)
I love reading zombie fiction, watching the movies, playing games.... heck, I pulled my team to victory to win the Zombie Squad trivia night. (Kind of a big group in the Zombie fiction neck of the world.) I even created and published a board game called Lomby Zombie - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/20969
But this game pulled out every little bit of nervousness in me.
kudos JohnG, Dead Rising was a doozy. Its one of those games on my list to eventually go back and finish up the achievements. I'm still missing Saint (get at least 50 people out of the mall), Transmissionairy (Answer all calls from Otis), and 5 & 7 day survivors.
I've made a few runs on Saint but just can't seem to keep everyone alive long enough to make it to the security room. As for the 5 & 7 day survivor achievements, I'll have to take a day off from work to give them an attempt.
Great game, would love to see a sequel.

Well, the Wii is getting a port of the original. Will likely have some extra content. And a sequel is heavily be rummored to be in development and taking place in Las Vegas.
Great game, one of my early favs for the 360. Also, one of the first games to have some worthy achievements.
I wussed out on my play through and bailed on the chopper right away (stressful game at times), but I did manage to get 6 or 7 people out of there. I've been tempted for awhile to go back and start another game to get a better ending.

Here's a shot of me 'standing proud' while getting the Frank the Pimp achievement.
and here's another one about 3 seconds after getting the achievment:
Congrats on finishing it. Honestly I couldn't stand the trudgery anymore and only made it about halfway through the game.
Did anyone here save the chick in the park, and beat those inmates riding around in the jeep? Like I said earlier, I really wussed out and flew through the game, avoiding them at every cost as I ran through the courtyard multiple times, haha. The times I did attempt to fight them I never lasted long.

Interesting note: They respawn every night at midnight until the last day if you kill them. Best thing to so with them is submachinegun them. You can grab an Uzi in the plaza that you exit the warehouse to. Go up the staircase closest, and jump to the blue ledge hanging out over the stairs. Keep moving across them, past the teddy bear, jumping across the parts that might be too narrow to walk on if you need to, and grab the Uzi. Then, head out, lead them so they crash on a tree, take aim and fire at the machinegunner on back. At this point, you can either take the rest out with your Uzi, or quickly run to the back of the jeep while they're in it, and use Examine on it, grabbing the machine gun with 200 ammo.
you can save her, just takes a helluva a lot of work in the begining. after you level up a bit though they shouldn't give you too much trouble. hell, once you get the real megabuster those guys aren't even a threat :)
Congrats on getting through what has got to be the most evil save system in history. Ohright, there's a game with it too.
Dead Rising is actually the very first game I ordered off of Goozex. I always wanted to check it out and, with a level 35 Frank, I can say that I love that game. Haven't actually made it through even one total playthrough, but that's more me just leveling a bunch and restarting with new skills/more health/etc.
Gotta say, I love the pyschopaths. The cop is incredibly easy, but other then that, their a group of very satisfying "bosses."
I had two psychopath fights that went well. The guy guarding the gun store was semi easy. I hid behind a rack and shot him each time he reloaded. I ran out of bullets so I had to club him a few times as well.
The other was the sniper family. I hid in a store and Daddy Sniper came by to check me out and I lead piped him to death as he ran in circles trying to find cover. Lather, rinse, repeated his two sons.
I had to check gamefaqs on beating Sgt CheezeMoves (aka Brock) because he'd just choke me to death while blocking everything I threw at him. I ended up using the bug where if you stand on the lower part of the tank, he'll step down and hop back up and be real vulnerable to a jump kick.
