Just started to play this game on my PSP after finishing Rondo of Blood. I really enjoyed Rondo of Blood and SoTN is pretty different in my opinion (for worse). I've found the boss fights to be pretty challenging and often wander around trying to figure out what happens next. Don't really see why people make such a big deal about this game. Combat is fun, graphics are ok, I do admit I really like the music, but I prefer the level based Castlevania's over the RPG-Adventure style.

I can understand how someone who never got a chance to play this the first time around might not like it after being able to play the sequels, but at the time, this game did so many things that are still felt today.

It proved, at a time when PS1 and N64 were moving in a decidedly 3d direction that a 2d side scroller could still be fun.

It not only took elements from the previous Castlevania games, but by adding in voice acting, an equipment system and a great twist to the game along with tight controls and difficult but not impossible gameplay,  it really raised the bar beyond TMNT:Arcade.

I still love the graphics and I understand they may be getting dated now, but at the time, they were gorgeous....remember this is an early PS1 release.

And the crowning achievement of this game was the music. Among everything else you could do, the music just never stopped being tremendous.

For someone like me who loved the 2D side scrollers, this was truly a blessing outside of the 3D hype that the PS1 was producing.

I really liked Dracula X, but I think it was the little things in SotN that made me fall in love.
