yeah id call myself a diehard PC gamer. I also love consoles as well, because its so easy to play a game on a console. So im kind of an all around kinda guy
I am definitely a hardcore PC gamer. Also a hardcore Mac gamer (talk about downtrodden!), and also have GBA, DS & PSP and do a fair amount of gaming on them.
I have been playing stuff lately not only on my main gaming laptops (Dell XPS 1730 and Macbook Pro) but also a UMPC (ultra-mobile PC) by HP called the 2133 Mini Note. I did a overview of it here (http://www.gamingwithchildren.com/2008-07-03/hp-takes-mini-note-of-the-umpc/)
At that site I've done a couple of PC game 'retrospectives' recently as well.

Woo hoo, just got CoD2 running on Linux perfectly using the "install on shared partition using windows, run from linux" trick. Got the game from a fellow goozer.
I guess that qualifies as diehard? :)
For President!
Most of the PC gaming "myths" (costs too much, have to upgrade all the time, PC maintenance is just so gosh-darned HARD, etc.) are now passed off as fact for some reason.
PC gaming gets a bad rap for all the wrong reasons. It has its problems (intrusive copy protection, piracy, and so on), but there's a lot of great stuff about it too.
I have to disagree ElfShotTheFood. I love gaming in general and own a PS3, 360, DS and a gaming PC and if you want to be able to run the newest games on High (or even medium sometimes) a upgrade every year/1.5 years is almost nesscary. The cost is very high as well but it dosent cost more for nothing, you get better grahpics, mods, free DLC, expansions, better multiplayer, and other things console ports dont usually get. One of the most important things is a community that actually lasts. You go play a mediocore 360 game 6 months after launch and you will be lucky to find 1 game open but on pc you can get the crappiest oldest game you can find and more than not a server or 2 will be up.
PC Gaming has its own advantages and disadvantages just like consoles do, you hear people whining about cost and such because they arent hardcore gamers. They just want to pop in madden or GTA IV and play it, they dont care about anything else than it being plug-and-play
