Unlike many. The style didn't bother me. I actually loved it. What I didn't like was just how pathically easy it was. That and the ****ing triforce hunting which I read was actually made simpler for the US release.
I really liked the style myself. Cell-shading hangs well on this game in my opinion. Am I the only person that vastly preferred this game to Twilight Princess? Both games have their share of problems, but I felt like Twilight Princess just had the most wasted potential. The dungeons in Twilight Princess were inarguably better, but the exploration and treasure hunting (which I regard to be the meat of a game like this) was so much better in Wind Waker.
I'd go into more detail, but I really don't have the time right now. Feel free to attack my heretical views.

Not at all Jurassic, this game has MUCH more style than Twilight Princess. Don't get me wrong, TP is a great game and an amazing achievement for a vast Zelda world full of some great dungeons, but Wind Waker has this undeniable charm and look about it that just oozes style. It was more of a complete game in my mind, despite the "second half" being a bit uneven. The world, the story, the gameplay, it was all wonderfully married together in doing its own thing. While TP was a great achievement, it's almost a shame that all of the great creativity put into Wind Waker was put on the back burner in order to deliver a more "cookie cutter" Zelda game.
Disclosure: I'm only about 2/3rds of the way through Phantom Hourglass, and while it's nice to head back to that windy world again there's just something about it that they didn't quite nail like they did on the GameCube. I don't quite feel that sense of joy and wonder that I got from Wind Waker.
^With that post you probably said it better than could.
I'll admit that when I first played Wind Waker, I just kind of breezed through it to continue the storyline. It took me a little less than 20 hours to beat it, and I was left feeling unsatisfied. When I played Twilight Princess, I initially thought it was vastly superior. But as I played it awhile, I realized that I wasn't enjoying myself whenever I'd go exploring just for the sake of completeness. The basic element of actual 'adventure' that defines these kind of games just didn't seem quite as fun as it did in original Legend of Zelda, A Link To The Past, or even Wind Waker. I liked collecting useless crap from those other games, whereas in TP I found myself thinking, "Poe Souls? And they only come out at night? Screw that, I'm going to the next dungeon."
After picking up Wind Waker a second time, I truly began to appreciate it. When I started playing it with the priority of collecting loot, I found I enjoyed the a great deal more. I began to notice the intricacy of the game world, and how much thought was truly put into making the non-dungeon parts of the game interesting.
And just to get this out of the way, I don't hate Twilight Princess by any means. As you said, it's a phenomenal technical achievement, and a great game in its own right. Wind Waker is just the more enjoyable game in my mind.
