Friday Night Brawl MVP

Yes the 2nd and 3rd place prizes sound like a very fun idea. When we reach at least 16 people each week I will break it to the big man and see what he thinks. Who knows, maybe all the MVP's will do that!

A new league will form every 8 players, so I would suggest that anyone interested and can commit to playing sign up in the thread.  Having multiple leauges going on at the same time would be pretty cool; and since scheduling is now just a one-on-one thing rather than getting everyone together at the same time, I would think those who normally cannot attend MVP nights will now be able to get their Brawl on.

 Wow the leagues sound like a really cool idea if you can't regularly make the tournies. I hope everyone doesn't forget about this MVP Nite though. We will still do this every Wednesday, and we are changing the rules to Double elimination, which gives everyone a second chance if they lose. School starts monday for me, so ill see how it will effect me.

With the leagues in this MVP Nite, it gives everyone 2 chances to win 200 points! Everyone who regularly partcicpates here should chack the leagues out. the 1st league has formed, and the second one is under construction.

 Hey squall_ff8, i saw that you posted a very interesting rule list back on the league thread. I was just curious if there were any special rules regarding that of Zero suit samus. Items are to be set at none, but zss gets three highly effective (in both knockback and damage) projectiles at the start of the match by throwing the pieces of her suit. Not to be rude or anything, but i think that goes against the "no items" rule, so are there any official tourney rules on zss? I know one time u killed me straight off with the pieces, and in a match for fun i killed you with ur own pieces very easily. The suit pieces just seem so easy to take advantage of.

 Also as some of you might know, there's is a hurricane fast approaching florida. It's scheduled to hit where i live on tuesday. So i probably cant make it to the next mvp nite because either my power went out or i have other hurricane issues. Fire mabye you can make the tree if you still have tio?

No, I'm pretty sure ZSS's pieces are perfectly legal. They may be more powerful than other item's that can be pulled out infinitely(bombs, turnips, bananas) but since they eventually go away it isn't as bad. I would say just make sure to shield when you think you're about to get hit with one, but then that goes without saying.

Makes sense to me. And whenever I'm falco I just deflect them and they're easily used agaisnt whoever is using ZSS.

Merc - Yeah, I don't think it will be a problem. I'll have to figure out double elimination though. If you've been updating the names and everything, it would be helpful to have the file.

Here is the most up-to-date file. I have been adding a new event for each tournement, hoping to make an archive of our mvp matches, so just add a new event for this one. The names should be all there.

Lol I have a replay of when my friend was ZSS and I was Marth...He hit me with one of the pieces, I dashed at him, did an aerial side smash and accidentally grabbed the piece while doing so. The attack sent him of the edge, and so I threw the piece down in hopes of getting him away from the edge so I'd have time to edge hog, but instead it sent him flying up to the edge, which in turn spiked him into oblivion. This was within the first 10 seconds or so of the match. XD If anyone wants to see, I can send it.

Also merc I hate to be an ass with all my complaining but if I did a practice tourney this Friday and it got a tournout of more than 8 people, would you consider at least temporarily changing the day to Friday?

 Well, you can have a practice session whenever you want, but even if you had a great turnout i dont know if we could switch it to Friday because there might be another mvp event (halo, gta4, cod4, etc.) going on at that time. The mvp rules state that their can't be conflicting mvp times, so brawl can't fall on a time that people are playing mgs4 or something for mvp. Wednesday had always been locked for brawl, and that has always been our spot, in order to change the time and day, i would need to know what time other mvps are going on first. Go ahead and have the practice tourney and see how many people can make it, if you want me to, i can send out messages through my friends list like i do for a regular practice tourney. Does anyone have a list of mvp times and days that we can look at to consider an alternative spot? But anyway kirby, we would probably end up voting here if we want a time change.

Squall- yeah i guess i see what your saying, it makes sense for them to be legal. I was just wondering because they even had a rule for bowser. Does that mean someone could legally win a match by suicide clawing all of someone's lives since the sudden death is ignored?

 Oh yea, and also nintendo got back to me saying they repaired my wii, and everything was covered by warrenty. They shipped it out yesterday and it should arrive in 1-2 buissiness days, so Im hoping to at least get it be Friday. The hurricane isint doing anything major, i still have internet and everything, so i might be able to make it tonight.

I was not aware of an MVP rule that states events can't be at the same time; it just makes it more difficult for members who would want to participate in both since now they would have to choose.  There is going to be a Mario Kart MVP event next week at the same time as the PS3 event.  With people's weekend's busy, and such a small window during weekday evenings, as events grow, there is bound to be some overlap.  In case you wanted to read it, here's the thread about MVP rules: http://www.goozex.com/community/forums/t/25691.aspx

Well what if it didn't conflict? That way people wouldn't have to choose and there would be no question of it's legibility as a tournament. I searched "Friday Night MVP" into the forum search box and found the Friday Night MVP time is 9:00 pm EST just like us. So if we just moved it to 8:00 pm EST then it wouldn't be a problem. We could even move it more if we had to.
