Hey there - I was just informed that a package had arrived at an old address of mine.
I'd strongly recommend confirming where a user wants each trade shipped, or at least checking on the address when it's been more than a month since the last trade. It's easy to forget to change your address, and could lead to bad experiences, negative feedback, etc.
Thanks!
Good tip!

Yes, it is always good to check.
But I would say that the 'tip' should be aimed at requesters! Make sure you have changed your shipping address!
At first glance my reaction is 'since when it is *my* job to make sure *you* have your crap together ... then I realized that the answer is 'when you can give me negative feedback for shipping to an address that *you* failed to change!'
If that ever happened to me I would appeal it in a second ... but I suppose it is better to make sure than to end up with bad feelings.

txa1265 - it's not your job at all, it's goozex's. Any other trading system (ebay, etc) is very active in assuring that when something is sent to you, you're going to be there to receive it. When I change my address I don't have to go change it on amazon, paypal, ebay, barterbee, etc. I just realize it's wrong at my next transaction and change it then.
Personally, I've had some very old requests up on goozex which are only now able to ship out since i'm sending out games. I got a "game has shipped" and that was about it. I should have to confirm what address it should go to before it goes to the sending user, with the option to set a "don't ask me anymore, just ship" bit if I want.Goozex's job is to facilitate easy trading. Shipping without checking in on addresses means that some games are going to go to old addresses, possibly causing the *sender* to receive negative feedback. The fix is relatively easy and will result in a better user experience.
Only problem is that any such request to verify the Receivers address will delay the process of shipping it. An address change is just that your must keep up with there you have your address and take responsibility for it being incorrect. I don't want to have Goozex email me every month or two or prompt me to ask if I have moved or not. I might go for once a year.
And I agree that negative feedback for a incorrect address should not be allowed. An maybe it should be added to the receivers feedback that they caused the issue. Just a thought

Absolutely - if I'm given a chance/reminder to update my address and I let it ship to the wrong address, that's my fault, not the senders - If anyone gets negative feedback it should be me in that case.

I agree - I don't want anything that will delay shipments. That is why I suggest putting more of the onus on the requester. You already get the 'game in the mail' message, so now it could have your address in the message as well - or a link to check your address (security issue including address in email). Either way, if you don't check the message for 2 days and the person ships in one ... that will be a problem.
I definitely agree that this could add a little delay, since you have to confirm your address before the request goes to the sender.
Here's the thing, this is really only useful for occasional users of goozex. For people shipping and receiving all the time, there should be a "Don't ask me to confirm again, just ship!" box. That way both casual users and hard-core goozex traders get the best of both worlds.
Of course, it could be put back on the requester once again ... until you have a certain feedback level and/or have a 'I know where I live' box checked, you will get an email upon match requiring you to confirm within a certain time or else you're skipped and put on hold again.
I dunno though ... seems like an awful lot for what is likely to happen perhaps 0.001% of the time ...
Ah, I misread the original post. I do agree that it is the responsibility of the receiver to make sure their mailing and email addresses are up-to-date.
I think that these are rare circumstances in which one's mailing address would change or need updating. Just as you would with any other bit of information, your credit card bills, forwarded mail, it is the receiver's responsibility to update all necessary bits of information. For the most of us, this would be a needless step. For all of you college students, military folk, or those that summer elsewhere, just be pro-active. It's as simple as that.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that, because there will always be new users. Goozex's behavior is also decidedly different that most online transactions, which means that this will likely bite a lot of people. As Lurknomore mentioned, there are quite a few situations where addresses might change.
What would be simple is for Goozex to build a check in - for new users or someone who hasn't had a trade in a while. Not a big deal, and easy to add a "don't ask me this" checkbox.

The only problem with this is that everyone, well most everyone, will check this box once when they create their account and never look at it again, even when they move. Now the point about having it pop up when someone has not traded in a while could work but this is a delay or how long, a day or 2. If the person is not at their system to reply then what do we skip them or ship it anyways with the thought that everything is correct.
Either way will cause someone to complain. So the bet advise is to keep your data up to date.
Keep in mind that causing the delay could cost the sender to not have the points needed for a game that they wanted.

Very good point. I wonder if something like GameTZ does - if you don't sign-in in 30 days you get an email? Something that links them to their account settings to make sure it is up to date on a monthly or quarterly basis? In other words - something completely separate from trades?

Hadn't even thought of that - this would be punishing one person in order to deal with another person not keeping their user info up to date.
