i've saved up the points to get ONE of these games and i'm really quite torn.  so my question to owners of both is which has the better online community.  i am more familar with the half life games i used to play CS and TF way back in the day, and loved them both.  has the patch made the game as good as the xbox version? i plan on getting both games eventually but which has more people online. that's the tie breaker for me.

i would say Resistence is more active online, it seems like everyone has that game, even though i don't have TOB for PS3 i did have it for X360, and it was pretty dead on 360 probably just as dead on PS3 as well

orange box for tf2. fewer "clans" and more welcoming to noobs. resistance has more players online but it has alot more griefers and folks who look to gang up at spawn points and slam noobs for easy kills. and with the team modes players seem to drop out and leave you solo within a half a minute if your team is obviously outmatched/gonna lose in rfom.

Also if you are lucky, you can check out your local Target and see if they have The Orange Box on clearance. Most places it is around 30 dollars at the moment. Hopefully it is going to drop to 15 this Monday. If it does, you going to have to be quick, it's going to get bought out like Folklore and Ninja Gaiden. Lair and Jericho are dropping in price as well.

Orange Box = 5 games on one disc.  So it may be a better option for a Goozex request. Plus you can hold out and get Resistance 2 when that comes out :P

The Orange Box has the better single player (Half Life 2) and Portal is by far the best game on the disc, and even better than Resistance. Multiplayer wise, TF2 is my preference as Resistance feels like every other WW2 (even though it's an alternate "history") FPS game out there. Personally, there are better games for the PS3 out there in the non-FPS categories, but if I had to choose between the two: The Orange Box.

I would say go with The Orange Box. I had a ton of fun with that game. Team Fortress 2 is an awesome multiplayer experience that starts off fun but gets even more fun once you learn the pros and cons of each class and learn to use them effectively.

I had Resistance and I don't know why that game is still around 900 points, I didn't like it at all. It's a matter of opinion of course, but I strongly prefer The Orange Box in this case. Besides, its 5 games vs. 1.

I'd recommend Orange Box too. I've only played it on the 360, and I do here that version is better than the PS3's, but I really wasn't impressed with Resistance at all. I've said it elsewhere, but I have a hard time enjoying any FPS after COD4.

Id have to say Orange Box, to me Resistace is still just another FPS, Half-Life, all be it a little dated, is still a revolutionart FPS. Not to mention TF2 and Portal.

If the online component is your draw, then I think you should go with The Orange Box. It offers great multiplayer that does it's own thing using class based team combat. Resistance doesn't deviate too far from your normal online shooter, but I had Orange Box and COD4 at the same time and the great thing about that was that they both offer a great diversion from the other type when you feel like you are getting burned out on one specific game.

Plus, everyone should play through Portal at least once, if only to get all the references to "cake" spattered throughout the internet.

The only reference to cake I understand is the Great Goozex Bake-off.

Were there any other contestants besides myself?

i cant agree with all of the hate on RFOM. i really dug the single player offline campaign/story mode if only for the history channel like cut scenes between the levels.
