Nebclecce:Ok, Xenosaga won't play at all on the "fat" PS2s, but will work on the "slim" PS2s. I had that problem when i first got it. Now PS3- Xenosaga won't play on any of them for some unbeknownst to me. Get a PS@ and you be fine.

I'm guessing there's a problem with his copy or consoles. Considering the game came out 5 years before the slim model, I don't think the game was unplayable for 5 years.
I recently bought Xenosaga I and I'll try putting it in my 60 gb ps3 tonight to see if it has any problems and let you know. If so I guess I'll dust off my ps2 slim.
my fat ps2 sometimes played some games better when it was in the vertical stance position. it had to be this way for all blue bottom games and all ps1 games, but they played fine, never any trouble. xenosaga series played beautifully one of my favorite series. hope that info helps someone.

Sad Fact: Xenosaga 1 and 3 were never released in Europe, but 2 was. So they all they got was the middle part of a 3 part game.
That is sad. You don't understand 2 if you don't beat 1 and you don't get the rest of the story if you don't play 3. I pity the Europeans.
I'm playing part 1 just fine on the 80 gig
