I was browsing Facebook Marketplace today (local area classified ads hosted on FB)  and I ran across a student trying to sell his XBOX.  Described as following:

It's new i havent played it in two years so its pretty much new i have seven games to go with it and they are all pretty dank

I wrote him about his ad here is the following correspondence:

Me: How well does the DVD drive work? Does it have any controllers? Cords?

DF: the dvd drive works perfectly and it has two controllers and all the cords

           Me: You mentioned seven games?

DF: yeah madden 06, some shooting game by like 50 cent haha nba live 06 ncaa 07, ncaa 06 and two other ones i have to check i forgot what they were

Me: I'll hit you back after I talk to my girlfriend about it after I pick her up from work today. If you can remember what the other games were, I'd appreciate it.

           DF:alright sounds good.

DF: the other games are halo 2 and halo

I figure if I can get any life out of his xbox at all, it'll be worth it.  Not to mention the games are worth a considerable amount of points...

Input?

As long as it works, that sounds like a good deal.

I forgot to mention that I still have all my old XBOX gear (wireless controllers, dvd remote, cords, busted dvd drive...)

I would strongly recommend installing XBMC, as you can unleash the true and real power of the Xbox.  I use it more as a media player than a game machine now.

I'm waving 50 bucks in the air right now. If you could get that Xbox, that'd be one hell of a deal. If I had the chance, I'd pick that up as soon as I heard about it regardless of what games he had. Thats an offer any gamer can't refuse, especially a trading gamer.

I hear that! My original xbox DVD drive just busted so I'd love to get my hands on a $50 console. By the way, anyone have any idea where I could find a decently priced DVD drive for my xbox?

i just recently sold mine for more than that with no games.

it cost me $13 to ship with insurance.  so if $50 includes s/h, that is a very good deal

If you can get the box with the controllers AND the games, it's a great deal. And, yes, even if you already have an XBOX, it's always wise to get a back-up. I have to two XBOXes (one for "just in case") and two PS2s for the same reason. I recently had a back-up GameCube but gave it to a needy kid in our neighborhood (and hopefully converted him into a gamer, lol). I troll through CraigsList in my community and always see great deals on original XBOXes, ranging from $100 to $35.

The best and easiest way is to just go to eBay, search for XBOX DVD drive, do the "By It Now," and it shipped and install it yourself. It's VERY easy; I did it about 2 years ago and my old XBOX was up and running in no time. I think the drive cost me $25, including shipping---but well worth the investment. Never had any more DDE.

FYI you can pick up an XBOX at GameStop for $60. They sell them either used or refurbished. I got mine a few months ago and have been stocking up on games like crazy since then. The refurbished units have been inspected and cleaned by a professional so I would recomend those if you can get one.
