Firmware 3.90 is out

 Well the new firmware 3.90 is out and it has skype, but only for the people with the slim psp's. Which is stupid considering I have the fat 1001 model. Does anybody know if their going to release it to the 1001 model anytime in the near future?

That sucks A** I did the upgrade just to see if there was any thing in it for my PSP fatties nota.. did not see any changes. I’m sure it’s only the first of things to come that the fatties will be left SOL. It’s bogus that Sony has to resort to this type of strategy to boost sails. There is not that much difference between the 2 PSP to make this any thing more than that. If there is please someone tell me the technical reason why the fatties cant run Skype and the slim can, from what I understand the hold up is the microphone, witch there is already a on top USB set up that works with both units.

Oh well one more thing for my list of why I’m getting a Slim.

 I know its ridiculous, sony always has to make a new slim product, they've done it for ps1, ps2, psp and probably ps3 soon. And now they could care less about the people who are the original customers of their product.

I expect things to progress and be redesigned smaller with more capabilities that’s all good but to not support the earlier item and force people to move to the new product is bogus reminds me of Microsoft tactics. I understand if the thing has out lived it usefulness, but things are being unsupported and out dated 6 months to a Year later, out dated I understand, unsupported.... now that ant right.

isnt there a way to gget skype on the FAT? i heard you can change the region settings to JAPAN and it will allow you to get the use out of skype. Iv'e never got arround to trying it, but i thought i'd through it out there.

You'd probably need a homebrewed PSP , but I wouldn't really know about that. Does anyone know when the next update will be?

This seems like a good thread to ask this in. Does anyone know of a website with good easy to follow directions on downgrading and running custom firmware on my PSP. I've been here QJ.NET - QuickJump Home - PlayStation Portable News - PSP Updates but it doesn't help so much for a guy who doesn't know what he's doing :-)

 Yeah, I remember looking at one not too long ago. If I find it again I'll post it here, but don't get your hopes up I might not be able to find it.
