wow i was really shocked this area is so hollow and docile. there is a huge community dedicated to all things sega on massive amounts of forums. yet this one is empty and deserted. i have a feeling its mainly due to piracy. dreamcast requires no kind of modification for pirated games so people have lost any desire to trade/buy them. homebrew plays a large part as well as it is starting to do for psp. xbox was always the piracy base so thats no contest there. i just think its sad no one contributes to the dreamcast anymore. they stopped making games in the u.s. territories but they still release dc games in japan and europe. i dunno just made me frown to see how few posts there were in this section, not trying to offend anyone or make accusations just my take on it. :)

I really liked the Dreamcast, I thought it was the superior system for last gen but it didn’t sell that well. It had awesome online games; PSO, Unreal Tournament, Quake and others. I worked at Best Buy in Orlando and there was a great group of guys there we all played online and it was a ton of fun. Graphics were always good; I loved Shenmue it is still one of my favorite games. The built in modem, the peripherals, and the creative games were all things that made the system great. It just didn’t sell well enough to compete and SEGA had to make money so they became a software company. I still think I had more fun with the Dreamcast then any other system because of the online games it had and the group of people I was able to play with. It is always the good old days that seem better, but who knows.

The Dreamcast is hands-down my favorite system. The library of games is second to none. Samba de Amigo, Typing of the Dead, Ooga Booga, Shenmue....the list goes on & on. This is still the system that gets dragged out at parties-next to the Wii, it's the best party system out there.

Man the only game I ever played on DC was the Crazy Taxi one.  I didn't know there was still such a large base.

You all are forgetting the greatest fighting game of ALL time: Soul Calibur!

Probably the ONLY game that has ever gotten a 10 on IGN.com

Unfortunately, I have played my part, if unknowingly, in the piracy game, I bought a THPS2 over eBay and it was a pirated version...

In retrospect, I should have reported the seller, but I was young...

I don't think that the DC subforum's size, or lack thereof, is indicative of the piracy of games or a lack of interest in all things Dreamcast.  In fact, for a great many of us, we have nothing but love and the utmost respect for the great, grand system.  I think that the lack of forum talk is attributed to nothing more than prevalence and ease of trading newer gen games here, and the fact that many of us have been acquiring and perfecting our DC collections.  The US library isn't that vast so getting and targeting the games that we want, has been a work in progress for sometime prior to the existence of Goozex.

agreed. Currently Goozex is geared towards the next gen systems. since the vast majority of the user base here is likely only trading for those, there's not as much love for our friend, the Dreamcast. hopefully that will start changing as more people become active on the forums though.

Dreamcast, power in a mighty small box. It's my newest console and what a steal, check them on e-bay or your local pawn shop. I got mine for $15 with a VMU, all cables, and a second rate (3rdparty) controller. the cord hangs from the bottom, it took me weeks to find out there's a little cord clip to swing it up top by the VMU slots. To clarify what i've found out {see dtoid.com } zophar.net is the place to get many many emulators. Maybe this is the wrong forum thread to go into booting but if you have the luck i did and score a sweet deal on a dreamcast system; make sure it's not a later model with a number 2 on the sticker, you're getting a machine for the right region. 0 and 1 on the sticker = they will play CD-R. Dreamcast as a music CD player is way better than PS2! after a while it gets funky.....sometimes. by the way, what's up with these new tags for Blingo and Win with me!!! are a few individuals sponsored by spam? how does that work? or just why did i never notice this before? did i get one?

This was an amazing system, and in most cases the games looked better than anything the PS2 could throw out. I've had mine for many years and pretty much played all the games I've cared to play on it (It still has billing on my shelf though in case I get the urge to play some Soul Blade). She died long before her time, though The Goat Store in Milwaukee still does some low budget publishing for the system which is nice.

She's dead, but not forgotten.

I got my first game system (the DC) for 30$ from a kid at school because his parents bought him an XBOX right when it came out.  It still works fine, except that I have to keep the disk tray open when I play it. What I mean by 'open' is that I close the lid, but not until the point where it clicks.  I keep a dvd case on top of the tray to keep it closed.

Just 'ordered' Crazy Taxi, should be getting here soon!

I wish the DC was released at the same time as the PS and N64.... Man what a sight the gaming market would be today if Sega hadn't died shortly after the PS2 and XBOX

Sega did release a system during the PS/N64 era-the Saturn. Marketing wasn't Sega's strong suit back then...

I actually have 2 Dreamcasts-a US one, and a Japanese one. Good times. I play Samba de Amigo pretty frequently even now. They should make a Wii version of that.

Luckily for Wii owners, thats not a totally wild suggestion.  Nintendo bought out Sega if IRC

The Dreamcast is such an amazing system. I love mine. When my 360 broke I busted it out and couldn't believe all the great games it had. Soul Calibur is just now starting to show it's age in the graphics dept 8 years later.  And the gameplay is perfect.  Still the best SC game made.  And I don't know how many hours I spent playing Tony Hawk 2.  Man, I loved that game.

Yeah, THPS2 was incredible.  That with Soul Calibur and armed with the 2k sports titles, I was in bliss back in the day.  Even today, I'd still be happy if that is all that my gaming lair was armed with.

Dreamcast games are actually the main reason I came to Goozex.  I work at a GameStop and get employee discounts, so I'm generally quite capable of finding a lot of good and rare games in good condition (considering I can scope out the inventory on a regular basis), but I had no really good way of getting Dreamcast games, many of which had been lost/stolen in a travelling incident.

I intend to use this place to reclaim a lot of my lost games as well as try out some that I've never had the chance to, though I'll likely still have to buy the lesser known titles like Last Blade 2 and Mars Matrix.  Not that I don't use this place for newer stuff too, though.
