drbock:

Not that I care, but ThePC_Gamer just turns the games around on ebay:

http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=thepc_gamer

I prefer just looking for games I'll play, but if he can make a profit on the margins, more power to him.

I figured that was pretty well known by now. A single person can only use so many copies of Lords of the Realm II. Wink

eBay is a lot of work for what is generally a slim profit (unless you mark up above auction prices quite a bit). I used to run a business via there but the lack of control and the high fees drove me away.

I personally don't see anything wrong with turning them over to eBay as he obviously loves gaming and isn't doing it to rip off Goozex in any way. I mean once you trade, there's nothing to say you cant' sell them, give them away, auction them off, etc. I do this sometimes with games that aren't in the collector's level quality that I want them to be (say for instance someone here sells me a game with a torn manual/ripped artwork cover). I have no problem ebaying that one off and requesting another one until I can piece together the perfect disc/manual/case combination :) That way I can acquire all the games I want for a truly perfect collection ^_^ At least that's my goal. I also give away some of the games in my weekly contests. All is fair in love, war and Goozex :)

I'ts not much of a secret I've been selling for years but thanks for letting the cat out of the bag drbock =). I really need to update that page its like 2 years old. Said I had 2000 feedback Its more like 13,000 now with about 10,000 unique buyers. Here's a better link http://stores.ebay.com/ThePC-Gamer. Ebay fees do suck. They are about 10% of the sale price when you factor in what paypal takes then you pay the actual fee to list the item on top of that. Amazon is even worse taking a whopping 15%. So say you have some rare $100 game that you paid $80 for and figure you can make a quick $20. Thats right hand over $15 to Amazon just for the privilege of selling on their page. Its funny how everyone assumes your putting $100 in your pocket when you sell a rare game like that when in reality its just as profitable as a $4 game I sold for $10.

I've been selling on eBay for almost ten years now :) I've just become a PowerSeller and opened up a store (finally, took me long enough) but you're absolutely right about the crazy fees that eBay and others charge. I don't even mind the eBay fees as much as I do the Paypal ones...especially since they charge you a percent (nearly 3%) even on the shipping... talk about unfair. Oh well, that's business I guess. Eventually I want to open up my own store that is independent of eBay and such, but for now it's definitely the easiest way to find customers.

As for my own personal games though, Goozex has become just about the only source I use to acquire games ^_^ After one more positive feedback I'll finally have reached the mystical cap of  20 games received at a time... and boy am I excited!

Thanks, I've considered doing the same thing too but I'm just concerned with exposure. What your paying for is exposure. If you make your own little site you may get some visitors and keep all the profit but if your on ebay you get worldwide exposure on the largest marketplace in the world and can sell to anyone in the world. It's fee structure does suck. Once the companies gain enough name brand recoginition they never lower fees only increase them. At some point it may no longer be profitable for me I just hope its not anytime soon. Has anyone here left ebay and opened their own store? Have much success? I'd love to hear about it.

If you did the eBay store combined with your own store, you could perhaps boost your exposure. I mean you could list your more expensive games on your own site, and then your cheaper ones on eBay...then when you ship out your games to them on eBay just include a little flyer for your own personal website in there. I think that'd help to grow your userbase a lot and you could perhaps offer small discounts to repeat customers who come from eBay and such. I'm not sure on the details, but this is something I'm giving a LOT of thought about lately.

I'll let you know if I figure out anything genius ^_^

Callidus has a gaming store (though I think it's brick & mortar) where he sells games and systems and such. Pretty cool!

You limitations increase when you reach certain numbers in your feedback score. The more you trade well, the more you can trade.

In general I think your demand for games benefits goozex as a whole.  I was thankful when you picked up XCOM and Planescape Torment from me as they were both just taking up space around my computer.  I was curious to see what kind of super human could manage to play both within the span of a week however.  Seeing how many games you were buying made it pretty clear you were really obsessive or that you were selling them elsewhere.  Either way, I got the points I wanted.

I'm curious, if someone was top buyer/seller more than once, do they get a better badge? Just asking because I know I will never become the top buyer/seller at all. ^__^
