I popped this in the PSP last night and man, oh man... talk about difficult. Am I just losing my edge or does anybody else find this game hard?
My first reaction, after dying umpteen times, was to throw it back up on Goozex and trade it away... but something keeps bringing me back to play it again.

It is difficult, and I think that I know why it might be so...and it wouldn't be attributible you or your diminishing skills. I'm thinking that you are gaming on an original PSP, and not the refresh. This game is one of the reasons I have long pondered that I should pick up one of the new PSP jobbies. The newer PSPs offer better and tighter control because of the slightly raised and stiffer buttons, especially in the control pad. I borrowed a friend's PSP to see the difference, and though the game is old-school difficult, it is demonstrably easier with the newer control scheme of the PSP refresh. My two cents.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info, Lurk!
Yeah, the game is much more difficult than any Castlevania in recent memory. I played through it once and beat Dracula, but I really don't feel the need to get the uber-ending, and I already have Symphony of the Night through the PSN, so I have little reason to keep this. The SotN version on it anyway has redone voices, and for someone who has went through the game completely (reverse castle and all) 3 or 4 times, I can't stand the "improved" voice acting and dialogue.
